I found something at a shop in Wisconsin over the weekend that I think is exactly what I need. A Minoura Space Grip. A t-shaped gadget that clamps on your handlebars to give you an elevated spot to mount you light, computer, whatever. To combat the "my handlebar bag is in the way of my headlight" blues. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm hoping it is tall enough. After buying it, I saw on the back of the package that they make a taller one, too. I'm pretty sure this one will work. It looks like you can mount it horizontally or vertically, or even hang it underneath. I read a couple of places on Bike Forums where people have mounted a second stem above the the one holding their bars so they could attach more stuff, but that sounds big, heavy & clunky to me.

Here's hoping.....

That sounds really interesting. Can you take a picture once you get it installed? I'd be really interested to see how that would work.

another alternative to the bag-in-the-way-of-the-light is this little item from
Velo Orange.

I've been using this for years, because I ride very narrow handlebars (34 cm). I think you'll like it!
