Absolutely no idea:D

But here's a journal from someone who did it: http://www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/?o=3Tzut&doc_id=265&v=0&term=west%20coast&context=all
(I think Astoria was day 5/6).

NC, I have been looking at that site...and in process of ordering maps...but wondering WHY..

why don't people travel north??? because of work seminars it is our best interest to travel north...any reason not to???

A book I have on Cycling the Pacific Coast says of a trip South to North. One word: prevailing headwinds. Ooops, that's two.

Also traffic. Highway 1 does not have much of a lane in either direction. But it is slightly better southbound. It also puts you on the ocean side so you can really see what presumabley made you bike the Pacific Coast in the first place. :)

My partner did cycle across North America.

This page has photos and gives general notes

He cycled both south and north between Astoria, OR & Gold Beach OR. Each direction was on slightly different roads.

One thing for certain that I do remember his comments to me since he was emailing /phoning me each evening, was the amount of fog when setting off in early morning.
