This past weekend was GreekFest in New Orleans, an annual fund raiser / church fair for the Greek Orthodox church. But not your usual church fair. Since Greece is the origin of the Olympics, they have races on the first night.

I signed up for the 5K race as a walker not a runner. Apparently there were two groups, fitness walkers and racers, as the race is a sanctioned event in the track circuit. Anyway, I was a "walker", but did the 5K in 44 min 52 seconds. Passed official "racers" in my walk! :D And I bettered my time from last year. If I was a racer, I would have won some prize money, but as a walker, I didn't win anything. :( This sort of bummed me, as I am not part of the circuit, and don't care to be, but I still would have liked to have a placement medal...

My prize was not feeling guilty for eating the Baklava icecream sundae prerace. :D

Good job! Sounds like a lot of fun! We have a GreekFest here, and although I've only gone once, it was the most fun!! Too cool that they have races, also. :)
