well as you all know we did our century
but i felt ok but for all the evening after up til 2am i was very aware of my heart
it was not pounding nor palpitating
it was just there .......... if you know what i mean about 80bpm
i just could not get settled, very strange
maybe it was the length of time we rode for
8 hours with about 4 times 5 minute breaks and one 20 minute break
i am obvioulsy concerned as we will do about 85 miles per day on the JOGLE and dont want to feel this way each evening

thanks

More water, I think. Maybe you're dehydrated? Can't hurt to suck some down right now.

did you eat plenty during and immediately after the ride?

and if so, did you eat foods that you normally eat?

Scarlet, I just posted in another thread that exercise - demanding exercise - elevates the heart rate as you know... but sometimes the resting heart rate is still elevated the next day. This could be what you are noticing... that your "normal" heart behaviour is just a little different.

When I have ridden an individual time trial well (intense exercise), my heart rate at resting is about 4-5 beats above "normal" that evening and still remains elevated 2-3 beats by the next evening.
That evening of the TT I can definately "feel" my heart beating/notice its presence" much more than after moderate exercise/riding.

My heart gets like that when I'm dehydrated. I also get dizzy--hold onto the table because the world is spinning--spells. I also sense a higher RHR when I haven't had enough recovery. If it makes you feel better, I didn't experience those symptoms during a weeklong tour last year. I think all the sitting around after the ride helped me feel more rested.

Hi all and thanks for the info

we tried to drink loads before and during and after probably about 4 litres during and again lots after
i had to stuff myself with fudge that night to keep my sugar level up :D;)
just something else to get used to i suppose
the heart rate not the fudge!!!

I think it was the duration 8 hours and my heart just getting back to normal
