Not sure if this or is not cycling related:

We're using so much less gas it isn't even funny. I am filling my car's little gas tank about once every month and 1/2.
Same for our other car. We're just not driving like we used to.

for the month of May, so far, I drove to work once. (I hate to admit it)

Ah, I envy (and admire) you, Mimi. I have to fill up my Honda Element every five days, and that now costs around $41 each time. My work commute is 30 miles one way, and on the back roads I'd have to take to bike there, would be more like 40-45, so no way I could bike it. We try not to drive much on weekends, but my DH is playing baseball this spring/summer, so he has a ballgame to go to on one weekend day. We dream of living car-free somewhere one day, or as close to it as possible, but we couldn't do that here; it's just too rural and far from everything. But we love our home on 11 wooded acres with trails (we can hike or mountain bike right out our back door), gardens we've nurtured, a small pond, and so much wildlife. So, it's a tough dilemma, and one we'll continue to struggle with.

Seems his primary alternative transport's the bicycle - and they've got a photo of that some places - it is.

On our ride today, we rode by a newly opened (yesterday) interchange with the expressway adn one of the riders asked me how I got to I-57. I had to tell her... I didn't ride a bicycle on the interstate. I had to drive some, she said. I realized I really have gotten out of touch with driving routes in town... yes, twice I've rented a car and driven to see family back East. That's the other INterstate ;)
