I have roughly 4 independent LBSs in my metro area. One is within 2 miles and is the one I have visited most often. The guys are really nice, but every time I have asked a question about my road bike I've been told (by three different sales guys), "I don't ride road bikes." Not much for woman, either. I visited another very popular shop next to a hoity-toity college campus and they were okay, but still just "eh."

But then last night...I found LBS mecca! :D I had heard of this LBS, but it is a bit of a haul so I'd been hitting my more local LBS. Never again - this was by far the most woman-friendly of them all. They had Terry, ShBeest, Sheila Moon, and even the Basil panniers! Everyone was exceptionally nice and knowledgeable. They even do fittings! It was awesome.

Sorry - I just had to share! I feel like Goldilocks, lol.

where? where? WHERE???

I want to see those Basil panniers...with the inlaws in FL I may have to add that shop to the places to visit next time we go that way!

Thanks

It's called Orange Cycle; here is the website:

http://orangecycleorlando.com/

I cannot even tell you how nice they were there. No snobbery, huge selection for women, and lots of patient answers (yea, I tend to ask a lot of questions, lol). They even cooed at the baby (instead of giving me dirty looks for having a kid). Really, they rock.

No offense to my closer LBS, but this place is it. I'm in love, lol. :p

ETA: where are my other FL people at?? Is anyone close?

Great tip, I'll keep them in mind. (Not too far from Travel Country Outdoors - my favorite store - and dinner in Winter Park!)

I'm in east Volusia in the wintertime. Wish I could send you some of our rain to put out those fires!

Glad you found your LBS! I have SEVERAL LBSs in my area, a few I can ride to and some I have to drive to but my favorite LBS by far I will drive 25 highway miles to. I wish it was closer so that I could hang out there all the time but I'm kinda glad they are far away enough because I probably would spend a lot more money there. Sometimes the extra distance is totally worth it.

Snork... I guess that's why the other LBSses don't know anything. THey've got their niche market and nobody who's tried the "bit of a haul" goes back!
