As a cyclist who's SO/partner also cycles alot for many years, there things that you are in sych for empathizing whenever the SO:
*can't cycle /must reduce cycling time temporarily..due to injury / illness. (Like right now he has problem with left shoulder and may be forced to reduce cycling time in Germany)
*must cycle for the whole day in isolated areas to find the next hotel on a multi-day/multi-wk. trip
*must do the above, with panniers' weight
*complains about dangerous drivers We feel for them..acutely.
*praises considerate drivers
*loves a beautiful, peaceful road for hrs.
*smells cycling funky. Ok, I'll still hug you too. You can get my funkiness too. :p :D
*is amazed that an uphill road, can occasionally feel....like descending. You know those wierd roads..occasionally.
*curses the fierce headwind uphill
*streaks blithely on tailwind uphill
*tracking cycling mileage..all the time. I forgive your obsession..
*amassing a collection of cycling maps from all over...North America, etc.
*looking at cycling facilities whenever you both go on trip..well, I have not choice. I have to follow him or I get abit lost.. :D
:):) Cycling love is indeed an added benefit to a loving relationshiip.

Indeed.
*Going slower (or faster) than your normal pace to hang with your cycling dearest.
*it's a given that all vacations and weekends will involve bikes
*kids knowing they're going riding because that's where both parents are going
life is good.

Enjoy that with your kids' expectations as a cycling family, singletrack! Hope that doesn't alter much in the future...or at least you all can ride together at times in life.
Mimitabby: yea, that's the word that I meant..in sychronization..

Being waked up by a handsome man hovering over me holding a cup of freshly brewed coffee for me, and then when I open my eyes he says "Time to suit up!" sounding like a kid about to go to the circus. :p
Riding along side by side down a dirt country road, birds singing, crickets chirping, and then he says out of nowhere "Just me and my sweetheart, pedalin' n pedalin'.....ridin' our bikes....." :p

I like how he hangs back with me, even though I know he'd rather hammer with the guys in the front. We lie in bed in the evening and read cycling magazines together. Ahh, yes...it's so perfect when you love someone and something so much that you can share them.

It's me jumping and chirping out of bed first..to go cycling early.
And yea, singletrack,..snowless vacations & weekends, bikes are de rigeur for us.

Looking through Bicycling magazine and drooling over the bikes together
Shopping online for gear together
Point out other cyclists to each other when we are stuck in the car
Ah yes, it is a lot of fun sharing the same passion!

For the longest time I thought my BF was being considerate by letting me ride in front, until recently when he finally admitted that he didn't mind going a little slower to take in the view. ;)

awww!, that sounds like what my boyfriend does!:D I met him cycling (on a ride), and he says the first thing he said to himself when he first saw me was "wow, look at the pistons (my legs:p) on that one", LOL!!
