Stupid Question - Camelbak Bottles

I got a Camelbak bottle for my birthday. Am I just suppose to take the rubber cap off every time I want to drink or nick a cut in it??? I know its a realllllly stupid question. Thanks

Don't take the rubber thing off.
There should be a slit in the rubbe thing.
Squeeze it. See the slit?
Just bite it and suck...like a straw.
