Anyone had a Brooks saddle upgraded by Selle Anatomica?

For the price of $49.95, they will cut a slot into your Brooks saddle and reinforce the saddle for the slot. It is just a guess on my part, but once I do this, I'm going to void my 6 month Wallingford no questions asked return option

After years of avoiding leather saddles, I finally came to the realization that to get a wide enough saddle that wasn't poofy required going with the B68. It is great as long as I'm sitting upgright or place an awkward bend in the back. But, a straight spine while in the drops and....ouch!

I tried excessive amounts of Proofide and trying to deform the leather to create a channel, but I fear it could be years before I succeed.

Brooks is testing out their 100 year old cutout, but if it succeeds, a B68 with a slot won't hit the market until December at the earliest (per their marketing person).

So, while perusing the Selle Anatomica site, I saw that they will retro fit your Brooks. Before voiding my Wallingford return and spending another $50 I was hoping someone here had some experience upgrading a Brooks.

Anyone?

Thanks

you do know that's how he started. he took brooks saddles, cut holes in them and sold them. Then he cut out the middle man (Brooks) and figured out a way to make saddles himself.

So I imagine a brooks with a cutout would be just as nice (or nicer, since they are made better) as a Selle Anatomica. But the Selle is water proof, and the brooks is not.

Yep....and for that reason I'm willing to give it a shot.

But, the B68 is wider than anything Selle Anatomica makes. I sent them email and they told me it wouldn't be a problem.

Still, my last bit of queasiness would go away if someone said, "Yep, done it. Best thing that ever happened to my sadde." Where else, but TE, home of the infamous Brooks cult, could that happen? :D

I'd do it, but I don't want to be without my saddle while it's being cut!

When I was trying to get my Brooks to work on my road bike, I asked Wallingford if they'd accept it for return if it was cut, and they said they would. However, they do sell returned saddles on ebay to cut their losses, and a cut-up one probably wouldn't sell, so they'd be taking a hit on it.

His response guilt-tripped me enough to hold on to it & use it on my commuter, which is much more upright than my road bike, so I don't need the cutout.
