I just got my RAGBRAI tickets so now its official....I need more clothes :p My last RAGBRAI was in < edited > I meant 1995 not 2005!

I need two pair of shorts, good quality for the money. I think I'd like to try a looser fit but because Iowa in late July is HOT I'm not interested in layering a liner underneath. At 50-60 miles a day, one's butt tends to get slightly sore without good padding (btdt).

If I go with another pair of compression shorts I like a lower sitting waist and a mid-thigh inseam.

What do you all like? I'm going to try and find some Bella shorts. Any other recommendations?

Hi Ummb..., I've done the Ragbrai, it does get hot! I bought these bibs here at TE last summer for my ride from Oregon to Jackson Hole. It was super-hot. These bibs are like airconditioned shorts - super comfortable chamois, nice fitting, very high quality and no pressure on your tummy. They are well worth a try, I know, they're black and white (I call them my penguin shorts;)) (or kind of tuxedo looking) If they still had my size, I would buy another pair, they are that nice for hot riding conditions! Once you try the high-end Louis Garneau shorts, you're kind of spoiled for anything else! http://www.teamestrogen.com/products.asp?pID=18029. Have fun at Ragbrai! Tokie

You might consider the Craft Master Short. In my quest for new shorts last year, I ended up returning these because I didn't care for the lower rise on them, but that may appeal to you. I otherwise liked the short and the chamois. Plus, TE has them on sale.

Very good chamois for long distances and they're well made shorts.

I really like the Shebeest triple S shorts - nice fabric, a great chamois, and a bit less pricey than others. I thin they're also a little shorter than other shorts...

They're low rise, but not absurdly so. I rode the MS ride in them last year and was quite comfortable for 80 *very hot* miles. (had a tropical storm the next day:rolleyes:).

Good luck!

Thanks gals! This should give me a good start for shopping. I'm going to try to find things locally so I can try on - at least get an idea of various brand's fit.

Thanks for the recommendation. I found them on STP for $50! I'm scheduled to do 65 miles tomorrow with some hard core riders...who may just kill me :lol and I'll put them to the test.

I found a pari of Hind Drylete (there was no style name) shorts on Ebay for $30 (nwt) and got those today. I rode 24 miles in them tonight and they were super comfy!

So I think I'm good. Three pairs should be sufficient for the week as our driver can do laundry while we're riding.
