YUCK! Sounds kind of like our local pie race (http://www.massbike.org/news/bikefestival.htm). Something about riding as hard as possible and then eating fat-laden/sugar-laden food sounds not so appealing... I'll just stick to the riding hard part :D.

Heh, I'm the creator of the Pie Race :)
Actually, it was from hearing about another Donut Race (in PA, I think) that I thought of the Pie Race. The new venue of the Bike Festival had really good pies, and initially I was thinking about a pie-eating contest, but that wasn't bike-y enough.
In case the website doesn't mention it, we did have a "no booting" rule - vomit DQs you. We also had controls to make sure that you actually swallowed the pie.
I would LOVE a donut race. I adore donuts, and ironically, I don't even like pie.

I love the pie race. That is, I love the idea of it. I have wanted to do it every year but every year on that day I have had a conflict (and will likely have that same conflict this year if it's the same weekend as in years past), so I have never done it. Obie, I didn't know you invented that. Cool! I have never done a road race, but if it involves a pie-eating contest (Or donuts, or cake, or Hostess Snoballs, or . . .), I'm there. I think I could really excel at the stuffing my face with pastries part.

but can you eat and ride at the same time or do you have to stop and eat while someone make sure eat ate the WHOOLLEE thing.
ugghhh! I'll pass on the donut. last thing I need is to have 2000 Calorie intake and only burn 1000 Calories or whatever I burn for the 21 mile course. Maybe I can talk my brother-in-law. :D

My husband's Rotary Club is sponsoring (and planning) this race-- I've been helping him. There is a no barf policy-- if a judge sees you blow your donuts, you lose your time bonus. This all came from a hilarious story in bicycling magazine a year ago or so-- online at http://www.bicycling.com/article/0,6610,s1-3-12-16404-1-P,00.html
Looking forward to seeing you there, Lifesgreat!

I don't know if this makes me excited or nauseous;) Too bad I'm on the opposite corner of the country (Atlanta)!! Have fun and post pictures!!
I saw Lifesgreat at the Tour de Donut on Saturday. It was a very fun event! The course started with a slight downhill and then we had a false flat on the return. Traffic control at all of the intersections would be nice for next year, but they did a great job of having folks out on the course, at the RR crossings, etc.
I opted to ride in the Speedracer category -- the category for those who chose to ride but not eat donuts. The guy who was crowned the King of Donuts ate 25 donuts and the Queen ate 12! Actually, I think 4 women tied for the Queen category. I can't imagine riding after eating 12 donuts.
There are some pics on the website:

If you're in the area for this one next year, I highly recommend it!
