hello ladies! i'm passionate about my track bike... so let's see your fixed gears.

how long have you been riding fixed?
how do you feel about fixed vs freewheel riding?
what gear ratio do you ride?

dog solitude - my converted nishiki fixed gear.
this is an old photo - it's got a pink chain & griptape now, and i'm riding 44:16.
i've got a front brake... i'm not quite badass enough for brakeless riding... especially not in a city as hilly as vancouver!
i liked cycling before i started riding fixed, but i didn't LOVE cycling. now, i feel like my bike is an extension of my body... i have such control over it, and can feel myself gliding over the road in a way i couldn't before. it's been a year now and i'm still in love - i just have to make sure i don't bust up my knees..!
i find that riding hills is SO much easier and more pleasant than it was before. my bike weighs practically nothing so pulling it up even the steepest hills is a breeze.

I ride a fixed gear to work and general errands. Mine is a specialized Langster :) :

My gear ratio is 42x16

The second picture is during a bike pub crawl the local college kids put on. Luckily they still envite me even though I've been out of school for a few years. ;)

Here is my fixie: 16/48 ratio - equipped for long rides.

The pics taken from a 50 mile ride around Mattituck this weekend. I am getting ready for my first metric century next week. Hoping to do Century by the end of summer.
