 Can someone tell me how to attach an image. I just can't seem to work it out. I guess I'm either going senile or I'm just dumb!!
Thanks

:Can someone tell me how to attach an image...
Margaret -
There are two ways you can show pictures - one is to use the icon in the line of icons just above the data entry box with the picture of the mountain on it. If you use that, what you need to do is point to an image somewhere else on the web. For example, I have pictures in a smugmug photo gallery that I often point to using that icon. What belongs between the IMG and /IMG is the url of the picture - for example, here's the URL I filled in to point to one of my pictures: http://denise.smugmug.com/photos/44146-S-1.jpg
If you want to upload a picture to this board and show it in your post, you use the manage attachments button in the attach files box that is in the additional options section below the box where you enter your text (and below the submit reply and preview post buttons).

Hey, Denise - I love your new picture!
Thanks! I thought it was time to switch to a biking picture! This is a shot of me in the Grand Tetons on my solo cross country tour (http://denise2002xc.crazyguyonabike.com) back in 2002. Actually the head shot I was using before was a picture of me from a tour of Hawaii to show the definite helmet ridges I had in my hair after a day of riding! It was probably too small to really see the ridges though.

No, you're not lost or confused! I just tried the same thing but with a picture that was only 14 kb - and I got the same error message. I wonder if there is something that has to be enabled. I just looked through my user options and didn't see anything obvious there that needs to be reset.
Maybe the admin can help out here!

some boards keep server space so that you can upload photos from your computer to the server; this one does not. So, your image MUST be loaded on the www somewhere, either on your own personal web space or a photo service.

I thought that had changed with the board upgrade back in January - see the note by administrator on January 27th at 8:57 pm in this thread (http://forums.teamestrogen.com/showthread.php?t=2076).
I always use external sites for my photos, but some folks haven't taken that step yet...

I dunno, something is really screwed up with the inline upload. It says my limit for "files of this type" is 195 kb. Yet when I attempt to load jpegs of , 110kb, 84 kb, and a few others I get told I've exceeded my quota. ( just tested it with 5 different jpegs) Good thing I have a GB+ of web space.
Can anyone else get the inline upload to work?

What I thought was a feature to limit total size of all photos by an INDIVIDUAL actually turns out to limit the combined total of all photos from EVERYONE. I've bumped up the cap by a factor of 100 so there should be plenty of room for everyone to post inline photos.
FYI, individual photos are limited to 200KB each with max dimension of 800x800 pixels. To be nice to people with dial-up connections you should try to limit photo file size to less than 100KB.
If you continue to have problems with inline photos, please let me know.
Thanks!

that's my friend, not me. ;-) I had to keep a foot on the table.
It's called "urban" riding. Pretty silly for a couple of 40-somethings...

I'm beginning to think that we 40-somethings are the silliest of all!

Very nice new avatar Denise - I'm trying to get an avatar too but its soooooooo small it's not a Real avatar...more like an avatar wannabe!
NICE photo Irulan - even if it wasn't you and you had to keep your foot on the table, that was more than I've ever done! Looks like fun - one of those "I wanna do that" things! :o
Maragaret - sorry I can't help you much. I'm just getting into this whole pix thing and my pixs are coming out reallllll tiny. The pix is real little with this HUGE white space behind it that keeps translating into whatever I'm trying to post to. So I've given up on it for now - too much to do over the next few weeks! I'll try again once Holy Week/Easter etc is over!

Thanks! That's a picture of myself on my 2 1/2 month-long 50th birthday "ride across the country" celebration back in 2002 - I stopped to stare at the beautiful mountains and ended up talking with another traveler for a bit, and I was very lucky that he was a good photographer. It's hard to get good pictures of yourself when you're traveling alone!
Anyway, I took my big picture and opened it with Adobe Photoshop Elements, then requested a Save for web and gave it the maximum size that our avatars can be. Not too bad, but I really like the the small version of the full picture (as stored in my smugmug photo gallery (http://denise.smugmug.com) better:

hmmm....maybe I'll try that next then. I was saving for email and then trying to "reduce" it. Since it's SNOWING  in New Mexico (insert fowl languague here) I guess I'll be trying it again tonight! :(
