Hey,
Don't you just love the spring breeze?
I did an easy 5 miles trail run yesterday, the earth was soft from the rain shower the night before, the wind was tough on me so 5 miles was enough.
How's your?

Ran 2.4 miles today (or should I say run/walk combo). Had a great day at school and was in a good mood. It was 90 degrees and humid (nothing like Texas weather). It felt really good to get out there (dog enjoyed it too).

Did 4 miles on the treadmill yesterday. This is the first time I've had to switch treadmills partway through b/c the guy next to me had such bad BO! I guess he figured he didn't need to shower before coming to the gym, or the icky old (cotton) tshirt he'd worn a zillion times to work out in before was just holding the funk in despite being (presumably) washed; or he's just one of the unlucky folks whose natural sweat smells to high heaven.

Whatever it was, it was almost sickening to breathe. I'm just glad I got my run in despite it!

A beautiful morning run today for me - 2.2 miles again. It was 48 degrees out at 5:15 and a full or nearly full moon. We've got some clouds coming in so I got to watch the clouds and moon play hide and seek.

I'm running in a housing area just up the hill from me. It's a nearly flat, climbs 20 feet over the lap, nearly .5 mile loop. The first lap my breathing is a little raggedy and I'm wondering just how crazy I am. The beginning of the lap is really flat and I have a tailwind. As I turn the corner into the wind the road tilts ever so slightly upward. I enjoy the slight cooling effect of the wind. It's not blowing that hard. Turn the next corner and the road bumps up, a little hill. Then a nice little downhill, back to the beginning. It's on this downhill that I really get to enjoy the moon.

By lap 2 I'm into a nice groove, my breathing is nice and even and laps 3 and 4 go well. I wonder how long I'll be sore this time. :D

4.33 miles on the treadmill yesterday, after swimming. It was in the low 30's with 20 mph gusts, so I weenied out and ran indoors. I am SO done with winter... and it's supposed to snow again for the next few days. feh

I want to go for another run today. My Triathlon brain is chomping at the bit while my logical PT brain is saying "Don't even think about it!!" I'm feeling rather schizophrenic at the moment.

I went out for a little over 4 miles today. This is the longest run I have done in a few years. My darn hamstrings always seem to tighten right up. Have to focus more of my time on Yoga and stretching. I am not getting any younger:D

I missed my run on the weekend - just didn't feel up to it. Today, I went for a run at school, 1 k alone, 3 with the kids and another alone. Only took 4 - 1 min walk breaks. Hopefully, next week, I can 15 minutes with 1 min breaks.

35 min s-l-o-w-j-o-g along the banks of the Danube in Vienna yesterday. Still tip-toeing the line to where my shins are getting worse.
I have a 5.8K relay leg to run on May 17; I´ll do whatever I want that day even if it means another no-run month.

I went back to the hotel room to do hot-cold showers on shins (no dip pool by the sauna); that made them feel real good.

Again, running makes it better before it comes back the next morning - lucky muscle ache is not getting worse, it is just like a transient, deep ache that moves around the shin / tibialis area, sometimes it´s a burning feeling too but it is the muscle itself.. I need another series of trigger pt. massage there, and all the way along my right leg up to the hip.

it´s so weird all these little achy overloaded spots are on my right leg. Leg length, could it have something to do with it? I´m getting paranoid.

I'm so happy. Started increasing by 10% last week and I feel GREAT. Today did almost 3 miles on the dreadmill, and at no point did I feel bad. In fact, my legs felt great. I also got on the bike for the first time yesterday (I know, it's shameful), and no residual pain except for the usual early season butt-adjustments.

So this week its three runs at 2.9 miles and then next week I can do a 5k! Once I get to 3 mile runs I'm very psyched because I can run outside during work. I hate the treadmill, especially in this spring weather when it's warm and balmy and sunny out.

I'm also psyched to ramp up the miles because I've been having a bad body image week, aided by the possibility that my pants I'm wearing today may have shrunk. I feel like I gained weight and feel gross all around, but I don't really think I have, so hopefully it's the pants.

Cross my fingers, anyway.

I ran almost five miles of hills last night. I felt a bit sluggish but did about the same as I always do time and distance-wise so perhaps it was in my mind?

The strange thing was on the downhills, my HR was dropping faster than I've ever seen it. I guess I won't complain but my max was 11 bpm less than last week and my average was about 20 bpm lower. I'm not sore today so maybe I didn't push it enough.

Kimmyt, you DID was those pants in hot water, didn't you?

4 miles on the treadmill again, after an hour's bike on the trainer. It's snowing again so I'm inside.

I've done a the first week of my triathlon training plan without messing up. Yay!

teigyr, i'm horrible about washing stuff so it wouldn't surprise me if they did shrink! the outer layer is like wool type stuff and the inner lining is poly. The reason I think they shrunk is because the liner is sticking out from the bottom, so it seems like the top layer shrunk. At least that's what I'm telling myself!

And congrats on the quick recovery during your hill run. Back before I hurt myself, it was so weird because I really enjoyed hill runs, it would suck while you were ascending but it felt soo good on the downhill.

Hi girls,
I did a swim run workout combo today. It seems to work really welll for me. I must get really warmed up in the pool and then it hurts less to run.

I came home from the pool and did a 1/2 mile circut, slow on flat, hard up a hill, slow down the hill fast on flat. Repeated 5 times and cooled down. It was good.

Stretch, roll, ice, dinner, Deadliest Catch on the VCR and I am still hungry....

Giving blood for the very first time tomorrow morning, so no workouts tomorrow or Friday.

Teigyr - sounds to me like you have a really great training plan that's starting to fall into place.;):D

I got to run a 3 mile time trial today. 22:57. I'm happy, my leg is good, I'm aware of it but no pain and I ran hard enough to get a little pukey. That's always a good sign.

4.6 mile free run (I like the sound of that.) I kept a decent pace, but my legs felt like stones - partly because it was near high tide and the sand was soft-ish; partly because of a rather hard ride yesterday; probably mostly because I've been really stressed out and drinking too much the last few nights. :(

Today's theme on the beach: a bientot to the beach. Last run here before we head north. Another beautiful day; there was some wind but I really didn't notice it because it was mostly over my shoulder. I passed a woman who, to my not-so-educated eye, had really nice form, and as I got closer I could see that she had BEAUTIFUL footprints. I wanted to say something to her but wasn't sure how she would take it :p

Wow!!! That is fast. To think I was happy about my 26 min 2.5 mile tempo run...but then again I did walk the last 8th of a mile just to cool down a bit. Between the warm-up and cool-down, I think I was under a 10 min mile!!!

Yes. A WONDERFUL training plan that is coming into place though sometimes I don't realize it. Sometimes I think I've made no progress at all and I have to step back and realize a couple of months ago, I couldn't have done any of this. So, yeah. It's all good!!!

Kimmyt, it sounds like it was the laundry. I'm one of those people who fluctuate a lot with puffiness and I hate playing the "will these pants fit me today" game. Grrrr.....anyway, you have an excuse :D

5km with the kids today. Felt pretty good, better than Tuesday. Only did 3 minutes of walking in 35 minutes. Getting there slowly.

I was able to get all my planned workouts done this week. My ankle is still a little touchy when doing lateral movements, but walking and running doesn't hurt. Today I got my long run of 10 miles done. I live in SF where there are hills everywhere. Today I almost made it the 1.3 miles back up to my apartment from sea-level. It's a consistent climb the whole distance with some segments that are pretty steep. I've always had to stop and take a break or walk a bit, but I kept on chugging today and felt okay (must be the speed work I've been doing). Of course, my garmin beeped that I was at 10 miles about .15 miles from my front door, and I took the easy way out and cooled down the rest of the way. But now I know I could do it! I'm thinking I should run the hill on purpose every now and then for a good workout!

Another 4 mile treadmill run today...I'm beginning to sound like a broken record here, but at least I'm getting a few runs in. Just enough to maintain fitness, no increases. That's okay -- just too much going on my life right now: puppy, super busy time at work, back to spring mountain bike rides when I can manage them, gardening..... I love spring! :)

I managed another 3.2 miles today as part of a brick workout. I'm really pleased with how my leg has behaved this week.

Congrats to everyone for getting out there in spite of busy schedules and various aches and pains!!

Congrats to me too and my ridiculous shin pain?

Think a sports specialist will take me seriously? I am contemplating going there.

Alpine - I'm gonna PM you. I just haven't had a lot of time. But yes a sports specialist will take you seriously. I just got over a serious bout of shin pain, it took nearly 6 weeks of almost no running and weekly deep tissue massage, leg strengthening exercises and stretching to make it fade away. More later.

First run outside yesterday! I went 7.3 miles in 72 minutes. My back and legs were sore but my foot was fine. Yay.
