No, I am not thinking about doing one...silly girls...BUT I am, well actually we are thinking about volunteering at Ironman Lake Placid. So my question is, where do I want to be:
In my kayak during the swim?
In the female change tent ( I like the idea of helping here)
A bike catcher ???
What do you guys think?
Do you actually get a choice? Cool!
In the kayak, you get a bit of exercise, and you're done early. Can you move on to another volunteer role after that?
It all sounds good. Thank you for helping make the event better. Volunteers rock!
Hugs and butterflies,

You'll see more of the race if you do the kayak duty. But the change tent volunteers get to really really help people, encourage them etc. So I guess it depends on what you want to get out of it. I would put bike catching in 3rd place.

If you want the full experience you may want to do three jobs.
Wetsuit stripper is fun, and then go on to work a bike or run aid station, and then maybe be a catcher at the end of the night.
This year my friend Lynn helped out in the transition area and then went on to work at a run aid station.
My other friends were catchers. they liked it, but said it could be a bit gross. Lot's of people throw up at the finish line... eeks
But speaking of gross, I wouldn't want to be a bike catcher since some of the guys pee on their bikes.
And I know that the air in the change tent can take on quite an aroma. My friend Lynn also worked the T tent one year. She said a pro woman came in and pee'd in the corner!
If you have friends racing then I would say run course and finish catcher would be the best.
And watch out.... You just may be bit by the bug! ha ha ha

Well, they do not need any first time finish line catchers or strippers. I am interested in really, really helping, that is why I was attracted to the T tent. I think a run aide station would be good too.
DH wants to be in the water. We have our own boats and are both experienced paddlers, so that would be a good fit.
Maybe I will go for that and then ask to be put on an aide station. If I am in the water, I will miss out on half the T-tent duties.
Hmmm....choices...
Oh and RM, I am not afraid of bugs biting me, I have spray for that, with DEET ( don't enter excruiating triathlons), it keeps the tri bugs away, at least the ones that are really big bugs!
