For our southern TE'ers, we are in for severe weather very much like the storms and tornados produced on 4 February. The system will be especially unstable on Thursday. Here's what is predicted by The Weather Channel:
Several rounds of severe weather are expected, especially the Southern Plains. Severe thunderstorms are expected to develop today in the Red River Valley into Arkansas. Tonight, a strong upper level system and a strengthening surface low and cold front will bring another chance of severe thunderstorms over the Southern Plains and into the Ozarks. As both the upper level and surface systems strengthen tomorrow, there is a chance of violent, long track tornadoes, large hail, damaging winds, and flooding rains over the Middle and Lower Mississippi Valley, Southern Plains, and Lower Ohio Valley tomorrow and tomorrow night. The greatest risk of tornadoes will come on Thursday. The heavy rain will fall over areas that are saturated from heavy rains over the last month or so, with flood and flash flood watches extending from the Red River Valley to northern Illinois. This rain will eventually run off into rivers that will likely return to flood and then into the main stem rivers, worsening the ongoing flooding situation there.
If you don't already have one, please consider getting a NOAA radio to stay informed of severe weather in your county. I hope TE'ers and their families living in this region don't have damage from this storm.
Please continue to keep us in your prayers as our community is still struggling with flooding. :(

It's a huge swath ... we're in line for deluges, too, and possible severe weather Thursday. THe past three times, right here we've gotten off easy while just to the South it was pretty nasty. THis time they don't think we're going to dodge it.
Stay safe!

Oh goodie, more run-off coming down Old Man River. Y'all be safe, and I hope you don't flood, or get blown away.
Hopefully these butterflies will help, at least in some small way!

I had a refill on the chill pills for the girls so I'm stocked up for the storm.
I found this video inspirational as we face these storms:

Me too makes me giggle every time I think about it. I also think of the picture of your fur kids sitting in the tub like you are going to give them a bath and it's all fun and games, not that they knew there was a storm coming! So cute!

We made it!
Fort Smith, about 70 miles due south of us, got slammed with unbelievable hail storms last night! All the TV station weathermen were hunkered down in their safe rooms on the air all night. They said there were entire apartment complexes with every window shattered by hail. I've never seen anything like it.
A friend who has a 10 yo who is deathly afraid of lightning said he was up all night calming the child. I slept all night long, didn't even know the power had even gone out. My front yard was flooded this morning, which is very rare. I thought the last round of flooding was bad, but this was a LOT of rain. No wind damage in our immediate area, though.
Hoping for no more bad weather for everyone!

Tuckervill, so glad to hear you are safe and sound. We have a tornado watch until 5 pm. Keeping my fingers crossed that it will be ok late tonight. We're not out of the woods by any means and all the prayers and well wishes have helped tremendously.

I'm here--finally. Every time I tried to give an update, another thunderstorm would appear and I had to unplug the computer. We were very fortunate to not have any wind damage or tornados for that matter. I'm very thankful for all the prayers and kind thoughts during this event. It's so nice to have the support here. :)

I'm fascinated with cloud formations and I snapped this photo of the last storm that moved through here.
Thank you Brandi for thinking of me.

This was a very low, ominous cloud that had a greenish tint.

I love how dramatic the lighting was on this cloud.

Wow, those pics are amazing. It so happens that the calendar in my office this year is all "Clouds." So, I like cloud pictures! These are great (except, I guess, if you are looking at them over your house and hoping they don't turn into funnels).

i love cloud pictures too, but this time it's not so fun for me. My buddy in Arkansas lost 40 beehives and a bunch of other stuff at her farm in a flash flood/wind/hail storm. they really loved their bees.

Oh no! Losing bees is really tragic! I'm so sorry about your friend's losses. :(

Mimi, do they live near Ft. Smith? Ft. Smith was slammed with hail (may have mentioned that already). It was incredible.
I hardly ever see bees in my yard anymore.
