AARRGGHHH I'm going to lose my mind! This is the worst part of training for an endurance event, it's known as the taper.
Like a good girl I've brought my training volume down the last week and am now in the final "mending" stage. This is the stage where you feel every twinge and ache and pain and SWEAR you won't make it race day. You also feel as if you can see your fitness leaving your body before your eyes because you aren't training enough.
This morning I tried to go for a mere 3 mile run, but my ankle started acting up. I've not had any aches or pains before now. But suddenly I've develped some ghostly pain in my ankle that feels like I've turned it??
I'm also feeling like a big ol lump. I seriously feel "heavy". Mind you I AM a heavy girl, but I feel like a real puff a lump right now.
AARRGGHHH Can we bring on the race already and get this thing over with??!!
This is just no fun.... sigh...:o

It is without a doubt, the WORST!!! Now, that being said, picture strength and healing entering your body, not fitness leaving. All those muscle fibers knitting away and repairing...Ahhhhh...breathe in, deeply, and exhale....ahhhhh...feel the little taper elves mending away....

ok if that does not work, have a glass of wine, go for the antioxidants...

Denise, I'm sending you extra butterflies right now to help those muscles rebuild and repair and be stronger than ever, and to get your mind off of it!! Watch the little butterflies flit and fly all 'round you and your space. Aren't they pretty? Is that enough of a distraction?

Your race is going to be awesome. And this week is going to help you get there!!

Hugs and butterflies,
~T~

I vote for the wine. Always helps me.

But yeah, I hear you. I don't worry about losing fittness but I do hate all those little aches and pains that rear their ugly heads. Eeeek!!

Hang in there Denise. It's almost race day!!! Yipppppeeeeeeee!!!!:D

I thought I was the only one! It's like when my body gets to rest... all these pains pop up. It's like it goes *SIGH* and the pain starts. HA!

The day is almost here Denise! Taper like you need to! See you this weekend!
