How does one choose tires? There must be, I am assuming differences in quality - how does one go about finding that out?
I use a road bike and ride 100+ miles a week.
thanks!

when i lived in CT and knew more riders I was able to ask them what their favorite shop was. I went there and learned a TON about my bike, tires, rims, sizes etc. Partly because my hybrid has unusually sized tires and I was wanted to put nubby tires on it. I succeeded but only because of a wonderful, helpful shop employee who gave me a real lesson on what I have, what's available, and what I need. They have these cool books with tons of tire types, brands, sizes etc.
I'd ask a cyclist or cycle club (or both) in your area, for a good shop.

There are so many factors, like the size of your rim, the type of bike, the type of pavement, your weight, the ride quality you want, the weather conditions you'll be riding in, your budget, and so on. You could be doing 100 miles a week commuting and want a far different tire that someone who wants to do 100 miles a week in fast and furious training rides. You could have slick, well maintained, butter smooth roads or horrible, cracking, lumpy ones. A small rider can be happy with a narrower tire than a large one. If you have the $$s, kevler/folding tires weigh less and a high TPI count on the sidewalls gives you a more supple ride. Lots of factors go into the choice.

yep.... it all depends! i wanted something durable but pretty.. so i ended up with michelin pro race in blue! i've had GREAT luck!
hubby just got new tires.. wanted something durable for commuting but good for weekend riding.. and got continental 3000's... he just put them on last night.. so don't know how we likes them!
neither of us liked the hutchins... hutchinsons? whatever they are... both had to be replaced rather quickly!
