I want want want a cargo bike. My preferences in order of desirability are:

Surly Big Dummy
Custom Xtracycle with steel frame, upright bike
Yuba

I have a Volpe now but don't want to sacrifice it for the Xtracycle (plus its not upright).

Anyone with a Yuba (and all of its 58 lbs)? Wonder how it compares weight-wise with a Surly BD?

I really need two bikes, I'm sure of it. Would enjoy hearing of experience with these bikes.

Well, speaking as one who has five bikes, including an Xtracycle (http://forums.teamestrogen.com/showthread.php?t=21415&highlight=keeping+geonzes), of course you need two bikes!

I'd love to have Big Dummy, but I couldn't justify the cost, so I bought a donor MTB and made it into an Xtra for less than the cost of the BD frame alone. I know it is nowhere near 58 pounds. Yikes!:eek::eek: ...just weighed it and it's 40 pounds.

The Yuba is cool, but what would you use for bags to haul stuff? They come with the Xtracycle.

So if money were no object, I'd go with the Big Dummy. But the retrofitted steel bike would work great, too.

Have fun with it!
