I tackled my second century of the season today and it was a rough/tough day on the bike. When the ride started it was a very chilly 36F and the wind was already making itself known to one and all. I fell in the the fast group and we quickly set a workable pace but the wind was fighting us along the way. After the lunch stop the wind became my worst enemy. The pace continued to be brisk but with the strong headwind I dropped off the pace and found myself alone on strange, new roads (I didn't much care for this I will admit). However, I kept plugging along and I don't think I ever got my speed above 14 mph riding into that darn wind. The last 35 miles were so demoralizing for no matter how hard I worked I felt like I was crawling. It was the first time in a long time I wanted to stop, get off my bike and call for a ride but I practice self-control and kept pedaling. I was never so happy to see my car! I logged 104 miles today and average a tough 15.2 mph. I'm beat!

Congratulations Marcie! That's an excellent pace for a full century of that level of difficulty. Good for you! :)

A century, wow. I am impressed! I went on a much shorter ride today. Since we had snow yesterday, I donated blood instead of moping around the house. So today my 15? mile ride flattened me, but I got some sun anyway.

Today is the 2 year annivesary of my first official "become a cycling addict" bike ride. I can't believe it's only been two years. Every one of my 226 rides since that time are logged on bikejournal. Last year I celebrated my one year anniversary by riding the same route I rode the first ride I did. I increased my avg speed for that 10km ride from 20 km/h to 29.6 km/h. :D

This year I celebrated but heading out for a 40km ride with my hubby. It was my first decent road bike ride of the year today. And it was sunny too!

Sigh, two years, and I still love biking!

I only did 19 miles today, but it was the prelude for a 3.2 mile run, my first brick of the year.
