Hey there!
anybody have suggestions for a place to look for small sized cycling shoes??
One of the women who takes my Spin classes regularly really wants to get shoes, and I've been encouraging her to do so. BUT, she's tiny!
I think she wears like a size 5, which is 35 I think.

any suggestions?

I can only find size 36 so far.

THANKS!

as somebody with feet like canoes, I am not much help to her.

BikerDar,

Some shoe manufacturers run small. I typically wear a 5.5 (US) shoe or a 36. However, with Sidi's and Specialized Mtn. Bike shoes, I needed a 37.

Maybe a size 36 Sidi or Specialized will fit your friend's foot?

Good luck!

Depending on the shoe manufacturer I can usually wear anything from a 4.5 to a 5.5 (or a kids 3....). My Sidi's are 37's, in other brands I need a 36. Sidi definitely goes down to 36 (I found a pair of Dom's on sale for $40 once and no matter what I did I could not squeeze my foot into that darn 36...) but I did find a killer deal on my road shoes- I got my $300 Sidi's for $30, since they'd been in the store for a couple of years...

I wear a size 5 and can usually fit in a size 36 cycling shoe. I don't spin so I don't know much about the 'spin' cycling shoes but I have a pair of Specialized road shoes and Shimano MTB shoes both in a 36 that fit great. And amazingly if you look around they aren't too hard to find. On the other hand with 'normal' shoes I often can't find anything smaller than a 6.

maybe its the kind of shoes I like to wear..... but I've always thought that I actually get more choices in shoe wear.... I can wear a 5/ 5.5 women's or a 3 kids and I've never had any problems finding either of those sizes... I particularly like Nordstrom Rack - tons of shoes and often at super prices. They even have women's shoes smaller than even I can wear - they go down to a 4!

Does she just want them for spinning? I wear a pair of old MTB shoes for that. They are a smidge too big but for spinning they're just fine.

A 36 should fit her.

I wear a 5.5 in dress shoes and a 6 in sandals and more casual shoes. My Sidis are 38s because they run so small. Sidi 36s would definitely fit a person who wore a size 5.

You are all great! I'm going to share that info with her.

Yes, she just wants them for spinning.
She got hit by a car while riding outside years ago, so has no interest in
riding outside. Isn't that the saddest thing you've heard today?

I find it so interesting how many people find Sidi sizing to run small. I measure exactly 7.5 on the brannock device (I buy 8s in running shoes and sometimes in pointy-toed heels if they run especially narrow), and I wear a size 39 Sidi very comfortably (which is right on the nose of the Sidi size chart). I think you have to try them on.

Do you have a women's or men's model? Maybe the men's sizing runs a bit more true (or the women's runs more narrow, so feels smaller)?

I have a 39 women's mountain shoe and a 39 men's road shoe... they're the same length, the men's are a hair wider. Women's fit me a little better actually. I will say they fit like ballet slippers or climbing shoes, not like, say, a running shoe -- but they're very comfortable.

This is definitely a hijack and TMI but...

Very rarely can I wear even a 5.5 and as for the kids sizes my feet are often too wide (picture Fred Flinstone's feet and you've got a good idea of mine). Add to it that I'm picky on 'grown-up' shoes and don't like anything that most would consider stylish - so it has at times made it hard to find shoes for the office.
