So today on a ride I FINALLY figured out what I'm going to wear in this years race. And why it took me so long I have no idea??! It' s actually kind of a no brainer.
I'm going to wear my AV sleeveless jersey!

This morning on our ride we were battling the wind. I was wearing the jersey and happened to look down at a tough moment. I then said out loud to no one in particular " Amici Veloce my ASZ!!!!!!" and it just made everything so much better. For that brief moment I didn't care about the wind. :p I was too busy cracking myself up.. :D

I was thinking about it, and by wearing the jersey it will be like you are all there racing with me.
And if I'm lucky the AV jersey will be seen crossing the finish line of an Ironman!! Is that a first?? :D
Another plus is the bright color will be easy to spot in a crowd. Not like I "blend" that well anyway..heh heh heh

Awesome! If it motivates you, then I say go for it!

I may wear my hot pink long-sleeve Canari shirt from TE; it is really thin and cool, and my family can see it a mile away! Still waiting for my Jaggad jersey to come so I can test it; hopefully this weekend!

It was windy for me here too; and I was forced to ride my 100 alone....I have never done this before and it sucked! But my choice was go alone or don't go. And I was worried that waiting till next weekend was just too close to the race to go that long.

I got home at 6 pm so no transition run!

How did your ride go?

That's a cool thing to wear for your Ironman and it is very bright.

Ohh Laura, I like both of those!

Funny, we were going to do another hundred. But both of us got up and wanted nothing to do with being on the bike that long!
So we went 50 and then ran for an hour in the 90 degree heat..
The run went well, so I think I'm ready. umm... I think..
I didn't melt into a puddle of goo, so I take that as a good thing.:D

For some reason, I always ride faster in my sleeveless AV Jersey. Seriously. Maybe you will have that luck?:D

I got the Jaggad jersey in....and it fits and I love it!

I am so excited...was afraid it would not make it. I had to order from Australia and it took about 2.5 weeks to get here by air mail...I got a small then panicked last week and ordered another one in size M. O well, the small fits and I love it.

One less thing to stress about! Now those tri shorts just need to get here!

Looks great Laura! Hopefully I can pick you out of the crowd!

RM... post up some pictures lady!

Personally.. I will be cheering from the sidelines in a cheerleading outfit. Royal blue and white with KSH on the front of the top! Pom-poms and all.

Yes, I bought it especially for cheering on people at IMAZ. I'm a nut like that. I want people to laugh and smile as they pass me.

I'll post up pictures of what I'll be looking like as soon as I get it in!

Both of your IM outfits look GREAT! I like the AV jersey idea- you can get some fast vibes from all the AV women out there. And the bright pink jersey looks great, too. Is it really lightweight and thin? I don't know what to wear for IMAZ in Nov., so that may be an option. Hadn't thought about long sleeves...

And KSH- yeah, we're gonna need to see pictures of that. Sounds fun!!!

RM, help me out. I have NO CLUE what a AV Jersey looks like. I'm out of the loop on that one.

And I will post up a picture of me in my cheerleading outfit... pom-pom's and all. :p

I just have to get it! HA! Should be here soon.

Tri Girl:

Yes, the Jaggad jersey very lightweight...micro-mesh type fabric.

I would definitely suggest wearing a LS jersey for IM AZ in November because of the sun. The sun in Phoenix is POWERFUL! And if you are fair complected like me, you just ROAST those arms like hot dogs on the bike!

I really think a light weight LS jersey keeps you cooler b/c the sun does not beat down on your arms. You could also use DeSoto arm coolers, but I use those for biking and would not want them on my body for 12+ hours...they are stretchy and close-fitting, which would turn really icky.

Good luck prepping for IM AZ in november. I am on the fence about whether to sign up for it before my race in April. With the new NA sports rules, I am afraid if I don't then I will be shut out of an IM in 2009. My problem is I just don't know where I will be in my life at that point. I don't even know where Uncle Sam is sending me in June, for crying out loud (wah! not back to AZ I know!).

Anyway, I would recommend a nice thin LS jersey and tri-shorts that are longer than average to protect the tops of the legs too.

Hey, you could get into IM Kentucky pretty easy for 2009. I know the online registration stayed open for 4 weeks after it opened. But yea, you might not know where you will be.

Or, if you decided you want to do an IM in 2009, and you don't want to decide in 2008... why not sign up for a non-branded IM race, like the Redman in Oklahoma?

The AV jersey is the amici veloci bright red affair. I wore it today and everytime I look down at it I smile... Mostly cause it reminds me of all ya'll here! :)

Karen,
OMG! That outfit rocks! You will be fantastic!

The Mill avenue bridge area is one 'hot corner' to spectate; that is where my mom hung out during the run last year. Kind of under the bridge area for some shade.

Be sure to bring a folding chair for yourself, a good hat, small cooler and LOTS of sunscreen!

can't wait to see you!

That is awesome! Did you special order that?

KSH

That is awesome! Did you special order that?

Yes I did.

At www.cheerleading.com you can order pre-made shirts and tops. So you don't have to order them in bulk. The top was $20 and the skirt $25... the lettering was $20... and the pom's were around $12.

Unfortunately, the top I ordered is way too big... so I had to take it to the tailor to have it taken in. So, that will probably end up being another $30-$40 spent on the top. Which is kind of frustrating.

The skirt was too small, so I went over to their shop (they are in Dallas, but it's 25 miles one-way from my office)... and picked up a larger size.

Hey, in the end I'll have a cheerleading outfit I can wear at races (when I'm not racing) and Halloween. Oh ... and... uuummmm... *special occasions* with my boyfriend ;)

I have to stay out of the sun as much as possible and plan to do a tri this summer. I already have long sleeve summer weight jerseys and typically wear at least a below the knee bike short when riding. Does anyone know of a comfortable lightly padded tri short that is at least to the knee?

I know it may not be fashionable, but you gotta do what you gotta do.
