Newbie looking for others in the area (Adrian, MI)

I'm a newbie to riding. The guy I am seeing is a fanatic and he bought me a bike and really wants me to give this a shot. I bought a trainer, been riding for a couple weeks, but not as much as I should be of course. It's incredibly boring as all of you are probably aware of. I haven't gotten all of the actual "gear" I need yet but most of it is on the way. I'm looking for any advice and other newbies in my area who might want to ride this spring/summer and tackle this adventure together.

Michigan Mountain Biking Association (http://www.mmba.org) - go to the forum. Most of us use it as a riding network to hook up with people when we want to ride. There are LOTS of rides going on in lower Michigan. Just post. :) That's your best chance.

Hi Zensgyrl- My name is Jennifer and my husband (Patrick) and I live in Michigan Center, MI. We do not belong to any clubs at this time. I am sure that my husband would like to, but I am still not that great at riding, yet. But, I will be very soon.

My husband, however, is very good. Commute and rides 4-5 days out the week. Yes, even in the snow. Frost bite on the brain.

We both own road and mountain bike. I just bought mine two days ago! I will post a picture of it soon!!!

We start our training in May to do our centuries during the summer. Our first is the OHR in Chelsea, MI. Your man should know about this ride, it happens on July 12th this year.

If you interested in riding with us let us know we didn't have any friends in our circle that enjoy this activity- so it's only us.

Hey Jennifer, thanks for the reply. Michigan Center isn't too far from me. I actually have a long time volleyball friend who lives there. I used to play volleyball in Jackson quite often.

I'll have to ask if he's heard of that race. He's not local but he also travels all over to race, Battle Creek, up north, etc. I do have a girlfriend I work with who lives in Chelsea so I'll have to do some research and see what I can find. I'm not sure if he has a race already planned that weekend but I'll find out.

Feel free to email me (melissa92674@comcast.net) anytime if you ever want to get together. I have a TON to learn still. I have yet to go out and ride with him and think I would be more comfortable going with him first but we'll see how much nerve I get up.
