I saw it last year.

This year, however, I'll be on my way to France with the Bike Friday!:D

I sent the ride info to Big Brother who's at the Pentagon - he hadn't heard of the race, and is now trying to pull together a team.

Crud, that would be fun!

Could I ask someone a favor? I've been trying to contact someone, anyone, who could help me obtain a USAFA team jersey for my USAFA grad hubby (Class of 71 and first from Whydaho to go). None of my emails have ever been answered. I think I even left a voice mail once and nada. But I haven't tried again for over a year.

If someone runs into someone who knows someone who just might have connections, could you see what you could do? He wears a Voler or PI XL (or a Champion Sys XXL). Please, please????? I'll send check, money order or whatever immediately. I'm out of Thin Mints.

Whenever I think of you, I'll see shiny gold stars twinkling around you ferever and ever. :)

Sadie - when I get home I'll forward your message to BB, he's AFA class of 79, and now at the Pentagon. I'll see if he's game to try to get one.

Hmm, I seem to remember a web site, and I have a military email address, maybe I can find it. I know I can find Army duds, it's just that they're MEN's sizes (boy jersey's don't work on me, I has curves :p).

SK---If the other connections here don't work out, please let me know. I plan to attend this event and I'll see if I can get the jersey for you, if they have vendors selling them.

Thanks so much, VB.

What I'm wondering is if the jerseys in the other links are "real" or the "tourist/fan" version. I haven't had a chance to google in hopes of finding team pictures. I know that sometimes real team jerseys are not the same but I'd like it to look close. And hubby is a real USAFA grad, so just maybe . . . .

The USAFA team web site last year was pretty lacking. Maybe by May 4, I can do some research. Our fiscal year ends 3/31 so the sales onslaught should slow. I'll be in touch. Thanks.

Any race reports? I haven't heard from big brother yet. He said he was riding, figured he had to do a sustained 18 mph to finish the race in the 3.5 hours allowed for the amateur circuit, before they're tossed off for the pro race.

I checked the ride web site, as well as followed a link to a news site, and there weren't any reports from yesterday.

I was out of town for it, so didn't go.
One of the women racers from my LBS posted on the shop Yahoo discussion group that she boycotted the race because "they ditched the women's field."
I don't know, exactly, what that means. I guess it means the cancelled the women's race, which really sux.
Anyone got any news???

I just did an easy group ride with some friends who were recovering from the Poolesville race instead.

For those looking for jerseys: Have you tried contacting the USAF cycling team? Most schools are happy to help alumni get official jerseys. You may have to wait for their next order, depending on what they may have laying around.
