Hi everyone... I have a Vitesse (Fizik) saddle that I like alot... but I am thinking of getting a Terry Butterly once this wears out....
Can you tell me if you have a Terry and what model, and what you like about it? I'm going on a two week bike tour this summer and I might be needing a new saddle by then...
Thanks! :)

Search the forums and you'll find that some women swear by them and some swear at them!
I fall into the latter group... I like them at first, but the padding starts to break down & squish shut on me in the cutout. They're also a bit wide in the back-to-nose transition area for my liking.

I have the Damselfly. I love it. It is much narrower and slightly firmer than the butterfly. I couldn't do the butterfly, it was to big on me.
I have it both on my mtn bike and road bike.

I have Butterflies on all my bikes. I love them. But if you like your Fizik, why would you change??

I have the Terry Fly on all my bikes. It's basically the same structure and padding as the butterfly, but it's narrower. The butterfly was too wide for me. I love the fly, but I agree that they breakdown faster than I would like, especially when I only had one bike that got all my attention!
I think that if it had slightly less padding, I'd be even happier, but for now, this works for me. It's the only saddle on which I've been able to comfortably ride centuries and then ride the day after with no soreness.

oh just want to see if the Terry is more comfortable. Mine is pretty good, but if I can get better... why not? :) Plus I will need a new saddle soon... so just getting some ideas :)

I have a Butterfly. I liked it at first. But, now after about 500 miles it is feeling just too bulky and squishy. I'm considering something firmer and less padded this season.

I've had no problem with my Butterflies breaking down. I've had one for 3 years and the other for 2 years with several thousands of miles on each.
Lots of people swear by Brooks.

I've got the Zero Y (men's) on both my bikes. Not as much padding as the fly (which I have on the tandem) - but they're both really old models and reading someone else's post about the Zero X, it seems they have padded that one a bit.
I tried switching saddles last summer when I had an "issue" but that turned out to be even more of a disaster. so I'm sticking with my Zeroes. (Which I think Knot suggested I do in the first place, come to think of it... Ah well. Live and learn.)

I have Fly's on my road bikes (the old bike's saddle is nearly 8 years old!).
I have a Butterfly on my commuter, but don't think I'd care for it for longer, harder, rides that I do on my road bike.
I have a Firefly (Dragonfly? I don't remember what it's called...but it has flames on it) on my mountainbike.
Love 'em all.
And I may buy MDHillSlug's Falcon X to see how that would be on my new road bike. Lighter...but shorter, so I'd have to do some adjusting with my saddle and I don't know if that'll mess up my fit.
Love my Terry saddles. My LBS stopped carrying them (although I think he'd special order for me if I whined enough), tho. :(

I use the Terry Butterfly on my mtn bike, like it very much. Have a Selle Gel on the road bike... thinking of switching the two.
Has anyone tried these Selle Leather saddles?

Just curious, it's like a brooks saddle with a cutout:confused:

Same here! Actually a te member GAVE it to me. We got to meet a couple years later and i am still on the same seat. I guess I should ride more or I just don't know it is worn out.hmmm?

Well everybody is different, and I'm sure you'll find just as many supporters of any brand saddle that you write about on here.
However, if you are going to get a new saddle, I'd do it well before your 2week tour so you can get a few hundred miles on it to be sure it''s the right one for you. Day 1 of a tour is NOT the time to be trying out a new saddle.
Have fun,

I like the Butterfly a lot and have ridden several centuries on it and a nine-day, 565-mile cross-state tour without serious problems other than some chafing in the crease of my inner thigh. It's probably a little too wide for me, but it's comfy.
The Damselfly was like a medieval torture device to me -- hard as a rock, with a tiny little pinchy cutout. OUCH!
So, don't be under the impression that a "Terry" is a "Terry" is a "Terry". Within the Terry line, there are saddles of all shapes, widths, firmness, etc. A lot of women like the men's Terry saddles more than the women's. I'd love to try a Terry Fly (men's version of the Butterfly) but never have.
I have a Selle San Marco Atola on my mtb, and although it's skinny like the Damselfly and almost as hard, the cutout is larger and diamond-shaped, so I find it incredibly comfy once my sit bones toughen up on it.
It is very hard to give anyone else a saddle recommendation -- what is one woman's torture device is another's perfect match.
Good luck!

I have a Fizik Vitesse currently on my bike that I like very much. I did have a Butterfly on it but I did not like it. It was too wide. This Butterfly is actually for sale if you decide you want to try it out.

With Terry's 30-day saddle return policy, you cannot go wrong. Both my finacee and I have tried multiple Terry saddles before settlling on the 'perfect' one.
