Luck of the irish to all of you!
My dh asked what I am up to today? Duh looking for a pot of gold!
Are you all wearing your green? I have green eye's so I always use that.
I am irish but not traditional irish. You are supposed to go to church today but.....
So what are you doing? We are having a pot luck tonight with the neighbors and a few friends! I got me irish beer ready my lads! Just need to pull out my irish music and we will be set! I think we will play count my freckles. It is going to be a long night!

Nothing fancy here. I'm wearing my green and so is hubby. Just going off to work in a green sweater. Then come home and sleep:)

My spin teacher always does an Irish spinning class. You either love it or hate it. I love it!

My niece teaches Irish step dance, so I'm wearing a sweatshirt from her school. After I got to work I realized I should have worn my cycling jersey that we had made for our Livestrong ride, the one with "may the wind be always at your back" on the back and the celtic knots all over it. Oh well, maybe next year.

Someone brought green cupcakes into work, but I stayed away from them since the last thing I need are more calories! Though I'd make an exception for a nice bottle of Smithwick's, which is chilling in the fridge at home.

Oh, and to nitpick ;) it is St. Paddy's day, not Patty. Men don't like to be called Patricia. (It is my own personal mission to get folks to get that one right, and all the Patricks in my family are very grateful).

Happy St. Paddy's day to you too!

While going through my dads stuff last week I found my grandmothers immigration papers, I wonder if I still have family in Cork??

Paddy, yes! Only clothing I'm wearing that has no green: my bra, shoes and watch. <grin> My eyes are blue, so I can't fall back on them!

DH is having green beer with his workmates after work, so I'll go collect him when I'm done. Then back to our renovation. Not exactly celebratory, but, hey, we're both in the colours! :D

You may be eligible to get an Irish (and therefore, European) passport. I don't know what the current rules are, but in the 90s if your grandparents were Irish, you could get citizenship. I have an EU passport, and it's quite handy. Someday maybe I'll live there again, but for now I use it to get through the speedy line at the airport in Paris.

I was all dressed and on my way out the door when I spied a green shirt and thought, "Oh, yea! I better bring something green to change into!"

... and got to work and I was already wearing green. Sioux is *not* a fashionista. Sang "danny boy" and "house of orange" along the way to get in the spirit.

Happy St. Paddy's Day to all and Queen, if there was ever any family in Cork, then that answers that question, so, of course you still have family there.

I haven't made any effort to wear green for a long time, as I figure it runs in my veins, eh?! Green from the inside-out here!

I looked into that a few years ago, it's still an option if I can locate a few more documents.

Happy St. Paddy's Day! I just finished up my Guinness, corned beef, cabbage, and potatoes. (Tomorrow we're having homemade reubens!)

Queen -That would be very cool if you could get an EU passport. I hope you find the documents you need.

Happy St. Paddy's day all!!!

We've enjoyed our beer (I can't do Guinness - wish I could), and are munching an array of Irish cheeses and bread! Much better than the smoke filled bars around here:D:D

I must confess, I did absolutely nothing for St. Paddy's day. Had chili and Lite beer for dinner; oh, and a GREEN salad, does that count? I normally wear green, but today I had to wear Carolina blue to celebrate UNC's victory in the ACC tournament and number one seed in the NCAA. Go Tarheels! :D

Guess I'll have to fall back on my green eyes....

I'm still mourning Duke's loss:(:(

Funny - I went to Duke Undergrad and Carolina for law, but never developed an affinity for Carolina sports.

Got to go to the first day of the tournament, but sadly didn't get to see Duke play....

Is this the ride thread?
for Saint Patricks' day I did 50 miles with Raleighdon and PansyPalmetto in Sacramento. We started at our motel in Rancho Cordoba and rode all the way into Old Sacramento mostly via the trail. On the trail we saw all kinds of wildlife including a coyote, a hawk (sharp shinned?) duelling hummingbirds, horny turkeys, magpies & mockingbirds.
Once in Sacramento, we met horses and busy streets,

and then we headed off in search of Pansy Avenue. At Pansy Avenue, Pansy did a pole dance until a neighbor came and more or less wished us out of there.

We opted to take light rail back to our motel as it was getting much too late; so after taking the wrong train, we eventually ended up at the right one. We got back on the trail and said our goodbyes

It was a beautiful day; not too hot for delicate me and sunny enough for anyone.

What would St. Patrick's Day (or the day after) be without a version of danny boy. enjoy. ;)

SilverSon and I are watching a story on the Colbert Report about a bar that banned the singing of "Oh Danny Boy".

He didn't get it.

So, I sang the entire song to him as loudly as I could ;)

He gets it now

Oh Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling
From glen to glen, and down the mountain side
The summer's gone, and all the flowers are dying
'Tis you, 'tis you must go and I must bide.
But come ye back when summer's in the meadow
Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow
'Tis I'll be here in sunshine or in shadow
Oh Danny boy, oh Danny boy, I love you so.

And if you come, when all the flowers are dying
And I am dead, as dead I well may be
You'll come and find the place where I am lying
And kneel and say an "Ave" there for me.

And I shall hear, tho' soft you tread above me
And all my dreams will warm and sweeter be
If you'll not fail to tell me that you love me
I'll simply sleep in peace until you come to me.

I'll simply sleep in peace until you come to me.

For the first time in a long time, I did nothing for St. Patrick's Day. I felt kind of bad, but work has got me all tied in knots, so I just didn't feel like doing anything. Nothing will top the St. Patrick's Day I spent in Ireland four years ago. Except for another trip back...:D
