I have a whinge..:( and hope someone will understand..I really just want to throw this out there..

ARGHGH...I had quite a few events that I was training for and was really looking forward to them. *sigh* then my thwack happened & have spent the rest of my summer recovering and now strengthening...

I feel guilty and actually a bit depressed because summer just zoomed by without saying i did an event. Fall will be here very soon..

Do i attempt the open water swim in April or just leave summer be..

I guess i accomplished my goal of being able to cycle outside..

HEEEEEEEPPPP..

I don't post a whole lot but this caught my eye because I am in the caretaker position of someone who is in a similar situation (husband shattered ankle and is on at least 6 + month road to recovery)

I just read the "Reflections" thread and saw some connection here...

You have to do what feels right for you...know your body and try to know if it would damage the recovery you have experienced or will it help your recovery. Your season of racing is not over...it will just be there waiting for you next year. You will look back on this and say "Remember when..."

I have been riding every weekend withOUT my hubby...yeah is sucks!!! and he hates not being able to ride...but that is just the way it is!!! I have to keep remembering that this is temporary...we will ride together again soon! Most of my rides are mtbike so it is just not an option...but yesterday was a road ride (he has been on the trainer and at the track but not on open road) he wanted to go so bad but we both knew it was not a good idea...ended up calling a friend who made us think realistically...hubby stayed home and groomed the dog :)

You know in your heart was is right for your knee...dig deep and do right!

***hehe...funny story: we are in the process of planning a new master-bathroom while looking at new showers I said we should absolutely get a built in bench...we both chuckled cause we knew one of us may be on crutches again and a built-in bench would be so much nicer than the little medical bench we have been stepping around and over in our shower now (btw: he still needs to use it when showering...no full weight bearing without walking boot on for about another 1-2 months)

:p

a summer full of big cycling plans - stopped right in the middle for us! I was most peeved to be pompom chearleader for a friend doing a triathlon last sunday :( :(

Still you & I still have our indian summer to enjoy yet and daylight savings ends three weeks later for us across the ditch ;)

We'll cycle on this winter together, double motviated to make next spring/summer OUR summer of sucess :D:D:D:D:D:D:D. I'll race you on the wind trainers over winter :p:p

I'm gratefull that at least I have winter off work to deal with my treatment, had first chemotherapy yesterday, plenty of anti puking drugs and all good so far........... I was particuarly motivated by others ladies in the treatment room telling me that their tiredness & puking had been minimal :) the nurses reckon i'll be on the bike again by the weekend .... YAH :D:D:D

We will survive winter :)

Chemo? I'll send you butterflies to help you throught the treatment and for healing! When my sister was doing chemo for breast cancer, she found that she felt best when she continued her exercise of karate. If she didn't move around, she felt much worse.

Lots of hugs and butterflies to you!

And, CC, you have to listen to your body!!! There is no shame in sitting these events out if your body isn't ready for them, and it's great for your bike karma to be a volunteer, as you already know. Listen carefully. The butterflies will tell you what you should do.

Hugs,
~T~

Thanks ladies,

MNZ..how is the battle going? HOw are you feeling? When will you get the all clear??

The next time we're in Auckland, we'll have to catch up! Do you have any of the spinervals DVD's? We could join coach troy :)

Anywho, I guess i'm just jealous of folks who could do all these events this summer..I know my own progress has been an event in itself :) I'd love to do the last open water swim of the season in April but I don't have to.

I think i'm happy with my progress but feel i need to prove something in someway to myself..then again it could be just the desire to show off..Not a good thing right now.

I look forward to getting stronger :D through the rainy season..

Kat-We're not going to Canada to participate in any big events plus we're only up there for 3weeks.. We might be able to squeeze in a hike in Jasper or mtn biking @ Whistler..(that would be ian..) I can't see myself doing whistler as it's in the Mountains..we don't have biiiiiiigg mountains here in Perth..

I just purchased "Spinervals-Recharge"..do you have a dvd burner? I could send it to you..;)

Jan-we'll be the ones riding in the rain just because we missed summer

If you happen to be in Calgary on the last Sunday of May there's a mini-tri - 300 m swim, 12 k bike, 3 k run. I know it's not what you're here for, but if you're feeling like you missed the summer then it'd be an easy way to just do something for a half a day. Although, it's the same day as the Lilac Festival so if you are here then hit then festival instead. :)

BTW - I love Queen. :)

CC will miss the 6 hour endurance mtb xc relay race I'm in by only 3 days. Ah, well, more time for visiting, I'd say! We can definitely, ride or hike, or visit a beach when you're here!!
