Am starting to think about training for the swim part of Danskin. I went to the closest local community center, which has a 25 m. pool. That could work. Then I went to my old swim club, AquaDive--right in the hood--where I belonged off and on for lap swimming for years. It closed its doors for good in November! I had no idea.

Anyone know any other good pools in North Seattle?

I've been told, by the way, that Martha Lake can be used for open swim practice.

Not exactly north seattle, but the QA pool used to be a nice environment, with a good masters club. That was a long time ago...don't know, now.

I also used to swim at Meadowbrook, kinda in north seattle, sort of off Lake City Way by the Fred Meyer.

In the summer, you might try collman (sp?) over in west seattle...only because it is a 50 meter, so not so many turns, if you want to get used to that.

If you have a wetsuit, or it is the height of summer, and you want some fun training, come over my way and swim in lake crescent, where a lot of our local triathletes train. If you do that, let me know, and we could do some biking, too! If it is warm enough, (or if you had a wetsuit) Crescent is great for swimming.

I'll start swimming at Magnuson Park in May. (wetsuit) I'll post a heads up for y'all, maybe we can make a group effort. Get SKnot to sit on the beach with our stuff....:D

KNOT: That is how my entire first triathlon swim went!
They told us it would be 70-72 in the water -- it was about 10-15 degrees colder . No wetsuits for most of us. I only remember my head hurting, I couldn't figure out why I couldn't breathe in, and I couldn't feel my feet again until about 2 miles into the run. Yike.

Bought a wetsuit this week... looking forward to finding out the difference. AND, I bought booties and gloves. I am going to be WARM and feel my fingers and toes after practice swims!!!!
