As my bike is going to be used for commuting and running errands, as well as longer recreational rides, I picked up a pair of NOS toe clips on eBay (I want to be able to wear regular shoes). But the cost of toe straps on eBay is CRAZY ($20 would be cheap for leather ones).

I like the way leather kind of keeps its shape -- I worry that nylon straps (which are significantly cheaper) would be kinda floppy and would therefore present some difficulty when putting your foot in the clip.

So...any thoughts on nylon straps, or any ideas on where to pick up some leather ones that don't cost an arm and a leg?

(BTW my local bike shop, when I asked about toe clips & straps, pretty much just tried to hard-sell me on going with a clipless system, which I don't want to do on this particular bike. Maybe a year from now when I feel I've earned a nice road bike...:p )

TIA!
