Yahoo!!! I finally rode my bike today! :D

It's been just over 3 months since my last ride...wow, have I missed it! My foot and ankle, which are still recuperating from tendonitis/tendinosis/PT trauma, seem to be ok post-ride. No pain during the ride at all and now it just feels kinda funny, like the nerves are firing off for no reason. But that's been typical of this stupid injury after I do anything strenuous. I hope and pray it is not all swollen and painful in the morning because I want to ride tomorrow too!!!

They recently paved a couple more miles on our local bike trail. Considering how rural it is around here, it's a really nice trail. It used to be the railroad tracks so even though it's all uphill one way (or downhill one way depending on how you want to look at it), it's not too steep and it's an easy ride. The trail now registers a whopping 4.7 miles in each direction! But that was perfect for my maiden voyage of 2008.

I hope all of you fellow walking wounded continue to heal and recuperate. I was thinking about you all today while enjoying the beautiful sunshine and fresh air!!!

Those nerves aren't firing for no reason, they're excited! they haven't been stimulated like that for a long time. As Martha Stewart says, it's a good thing :)

Zen, I hope it's a good thing!

A few more hours have passed and my foot isn't swelling up like a balloon, so I'm hopeful. I swear my foot is possessed. I think of it like a foreign being attached to my body. It gets angry for no reason and punishes me with strange sensations, swelling, and skin color changes. It seems to be very inconsistent about what gets it riled up. Last week at work, I had to squat down several times to pick up files out of boxes and my foot went berserk. So I never know what to expect. And, even though I work for County government, my health insurance is a joke and my deductible reset on January 1, so I really can't afford to go back to the Dr.! Today was a big test to see what my foot would do. So far, so good! I have my fingers crossed very tightly!

Now...the not over-doing it thing will be my next challenge! Maillotpois, I may have to ask you to remind me about this every now and then.

And Starfish, I'm so glad to be back!!!

Sara,
Your foot and my knee must be conspiring against us both. I have been slowly trying to reintroduce some exercise also and I swear I never know from one hour to the next how it is going to react.

I want to try a bike ride this morning, but I have to go food shopping, so I thought I had better shop first before the ride in case I can't walk after.

Tough way to operate.

I am so glad your ride wennt well yesteday and hope you are ok this morning.

That's great Sara, welcome back!

You've got me beat. I haven't ridden any miles at all in '08 yet! Run some, but no riding yet.
