Next weekend I am going to do my first mountain bike race. It is a 6 miler- beginner frienly race. I will get a chance to check out the course this weekend.

I am pretty new to mountain biking, but would like to go ahead and give the race a try. I am not trying to win it but just see what it is all about and have some fun.

Can anyone offer me some ideas about what to expect?

Or have any suggestions?

I am starting to get nervous!

Thanks!

Stephanie

Just do it and have fun. Don't overthink it. If you comfortable on the trail, you'll be fine, and you'll learn alot from your experience. It's great that you are going for it!

EDIT 1: Wow, you are from Richmond, me too!

EDIT 2: good move to ride the course before hand. Take mental notes about tough climbs so you won't be caught in the big ring. Let us know how it goes and how you like it.
