You gals are going to love this one. Bubba goes to the dr yesterday because the reaction is getting so bad. Dr prescribes Prednisone, a steroid. Pharmacy (wellknown national chain) screws up the dosage and he's been taking the entire day's dosage in the morning. So he's OD'ing and then crashing 2 days running (well the 2nd crash will come tonight). Anyone else able to tell the difference between "1 pill 3x daily" and "3 pills 1x daily"? Apparently, not our pharmacist. He awoke in the middle of the night with all the inflammation and swelling back, heartburn and heart palpitations! Said pharmacy got a consumer complaint call from my favorite beloved and afflicted attorney. We are so lucky he doesn't have other health problems that could have been exacerbated by the nincompoop pharmacist.

So, this weekend is lots of monopoly and movies, anything to keep him entertained as the rehab just got longer. Good news is the weather broke for just a bit and I got in a short ride (but without my honey!).

Be very, very nice to Bubba.

Prednisone turns me into an evil, wicked b!tch from hell. Hopefully he'll get through it fast(er) now and be able to resume normal life.

I'll never forget the time I had a poison oak rash and my mom didn't know what it was but decided an oatmeal bath was the ticket. You can fill in the blanks. I now avoid PO at all costs.

I'll think good thoughts for you this weekend!

You have the instructions correct for tappering the dose at the end of the treatment. Man that is an awful oversight! As a Rn and someone who had to be on the gawd awful stuff once- my condolences! Hope he feels better real soon. :(

Thank you, yes, Bubba spoke with the dr who is, of course, horrified over the whole thing. The dr has already double-checked that we now have the correct instructions and wants Bubba to call him at the end of the Rx to discussion how he's feeling. They'll then decide whether to extend the Rx a couple days just to make sure everything is OK, tapering OK, etc. He crashed again last night but that was the last day of the wrong dosage. He's on the right plan today and should be doing better. His legs are starting to heal! Yeah!!!!!!
