I'm so out of touch this year, I've just today been checking out the standings in the Tour of Cali. Very exciting to hear that Dave Z was in the break yesterday!

Anyone got a link to a site providing live coverage? Doesn't have to be video, text coverage is better for me at work.

The Amgen site is what I've been using. They have both a live video feed and a written play by play.

Since the computer nazi's here at work don't let this computer download the stuff needed for Flash to work, I watch the live feed off of cycling.tv. I can't not watch the stages....reading the tickers just doesn't give it the excitement on the climbs!!! :D

The Amgen Tour (http://www.amgentourofcalifornia.com/)site has a live feed everyday from start to finish (for me, on the east coast, it's from 1pm til whenever). Its surprisingly ok satellite coverage.

The only problem with it (no offense, Frankie) is TERRIBLE commentating. I mute it and listen to some music instead!

:)

I second the yee-haw regarding Dave Z in the break. He's considered one of the top contenders now.

Duuuuh... I use those every year for the TdF. I dunno why I didn't think they'd do live reports for something like the ToC. Thanks, Lifesgreat. I'll also check out the Amgen site.

I wasn't kidding that I'm out of touch this year

It's been on Versus every night. I love my Tivo!

Here on the East coast, we're getting this at 11 pm. Call me ancient, but I've been sleeping for about an hour by then ;).

We're so out of touch, we actually had to figure out how to program our - wait for it - VCR! Yup - no DVR or Tivo here - just good old fashioned technology :D.

I've seen the first three stages, and will watch yesterday's stage tonight.

Please....I can barely turn on the bleepin' t.v. DH has so many remotes for the stupid thing.

Did you see this pic of Dave Z. (http://www.cyclingnews.com/road/2008/feb08/california08/index.php?id=/photos/2008/feb08/california08/california083/mjc2008-02-20_14-00-19)from yesterday? With the 'stache? He looks like an old man!!
Still...I like the light in this series of Mitch's photos....

Funny that you brought up Dave Z's upper lip. The mention of it at the beginning of this post (http://unholyrouleur-jim.blogspot.com/2008/02/water-bottles-laugh-til-you-puke.html) is actually what reminded me that I needed to check out the Tour of Cali ;)

We are using the DVR to record it, but like Regina, I can barely use the TV now. Too many functions, etc.
SheFly, we didn't have any of this stuff until we got Comcast phone service and the TV stuff was part of a package/upgrade. We supposedly are going to drop the On Demand, etc. when the "deal" runs out, but I somehow I don't think so!

when i see dave z. and his stache, in my head i hear
"bow chicka bow ow" - cause you know, around here that would be called a 'porn stache'. :)

and thanks for the links folks, though my boss may not be thanking anyone as i sit here listening and half-watching the ride all day. my tv has been doing weird things and the one with the DVR has broken up pictures on any station above 36 and VS is 44, and i can't stand to watch through all the breaking up and by 11, i'm ready to at least be in bed, and that's the tv with the problems. OY!

LOL! That is SO FUNNY! I really think he needs to shave - looks kind of like a little kid trying to be a grown up (or a porn star :D). Wait till I pass that one on to DH....

Crankin - I REFUSE to succumb to any other Comcast nonsense! I only have them for TV, and also refuse to upgrade my Verizon for anything besides my phone and DSL.... They don't like me ;).

Here is the other problem with watching this in real time.....I want to go home from work and they are only 20 miles from finishing, but I'm tired and I want to go home. :) I've just invested too much time to not see the end - oh there's big George on my screen.....ahhhhhh, it's all good now. :o

My dilemma too!!! I am leaving in 13 minutes...only because we have a houseguest from Switzerland who is probably hungry and ready to go out to dinner. So sad to leave though! :(

I feel your pain Brandy. :) It is almost 8:00 here and I'm sure my cat is hungry, but that isn't as bad as a houseguest from another country. I guess the one consolation is at least the end part is sure to be shown on VS tonight.

That and the Stars and Stripes ensemble takes me back to the 70's and not in a good way.
Is there a good way?
