Sorry I have been out of action as of late but I have been lurking. Since last spring I have had some horrible health issues that have set me back a long way. I kept getting pneumonia again and again and we finally discovered that I am not swollowing right because of my stroke...hence the cause of my pneumonia!! Then I had a bad fall and fractured my right clavicle and that puppy still hurts like fire in my arm...my good arm of course. Then I started having really bad hip pain on my affected side and it has been dtermined that I am going to need a new hip very soon. So I have been "window shopping"on the net for the best brand etc. etc. Things got so bad last summer that I had to move in with my mother because I needed round the clock care. I cannot tell you how bad it is to have your 70+ year old mother putting you in the shower and dressing you when you are 45. BUT I am on the up swing. They are letting me PEDAL!!!!!!!! and I can walk more so I have signed up to do the MS walk again!!! I don't care if I have to crawl all 3 miles I am going to finish that walk. My son and daughter are going to follow me with a wheelchair but I'll be damned if I get into that again. That makes life too easy and I won't have that. I may leave them in the dust and do the 6 miles!!
People with MS have it worse off than me so I am trying to do all I can to help!!!
I hope all you guys are well. I am sorry to hear about all of you in PT. I am also praying for The Silvers and baby Loreli. I miss you all and am darn glad I can sit up again and dictate.

What a year! Sheesh. What month was the clavicle? We need to make sure you did it on the proper schedule.

Karen!
I am sorry you have had such a bad time. That is quite a story. It sounds like you are doing everything in your power to deal with the situation. Please keep us posted about your progress. I wondered where you were...
I've had my own health issues this year, but they are under control, not counting the sports related issues that you read about!
I'll be thinking about you.
Robyn (yes, I changed my user name)
You have a great attitude, i know so much of our healing is determined in out own minds and it SUCKS to be dependent on others.
I may be joining you in the hip club - I had to get out my cane the other day

There are some folks who display an attitude and perseverance that is optimistic...
...but then there are others who are truly an inspiration!
You are living a life that will have impact way beyond the world you see everyday!
Thanks for the thoughts and prayers...know you're on our list as well!

Karen, thank you for being who you are. That is quite an amazing list of burdens to bear for any one person. I'm with the others here...you are going to have lasting influence on others...perhaps a lot of it that you will never know. You are a blessing! Thank you!!
YIKES!!! Sounds like you've had a rough time lately, but you have a great attitude and that goes a long way. Keep it up!

Don't know where Karen's been lately. I must not have seen this thread back in February.
Hope you're well, Miss Karen. My husband will probably have both hips replaced before he's 60 (he's 44). We did a little research, too. There's the new technology where they don't replace the whole head of the femur--that's good in case you have to have it again (yikes! a distinct possibility for my hubby), there's more bone left to work with.
I expect the technology will change quite a bit before he is in need, but this is one thing we've learned that I thought I'd share.
Everything everyone else said--ditto that! You are inspiring!
The Other Other Karen. :)

Karen: I don't know you but am inspired in reading about all that you have gone through yourself, and yet, here you are planning to walk to help others with MS. It takes lots of people like you to make this world a better place! Bless you and take care of yourself!
