oh, I was having a dyslexic moment.
Is that supposed to be a Q or a G?

Doesn't matter. It's French.

You know how Flavor Flave says "boy-ee"?
Then it's "boy-ee-gay" but say it fast.

This is not easy to demonstrate through writing:p

Sorry ladies. Here's how the French say it:

BOO-EE-GUE

BOO as in BOOt

EE as in E-mail

GUE as in roGUE (very quickly)

There is no "Boy" sound and the final S is mute (as always in French).

Bouygues is a big French corporation that started in the construction business but is mostly known, to my knownedge, as a cell phone operator also involved in the media (TV and/or cable, not sure).

I looked on Youtube for one of their ads but most of them don't say the company name. In this one, it's said at the very end: http://youtube.com/watch?v=huV-gE8rcAw (and there's nice kitties in the ad so it's worth watching)

I just looked that up aussi and found the same info. The French corporation has the question on their website and says it's "buig" or "bweeg"

Hmm, learn something new everyday.

Bouygues Telecom is a French cycling team. Home of Thomas Voeckler, who won the hearts of many as he valiantly held and defended the yellow jersey against Lance Armstrong.

Of course, I liked the team better when it was Brioches La Boulangère...just felt more fun to support a french bakery than telephone company

It's a family name (Francis Bouygues, originally) and became the name of the company. I think it's of Auvergnat origin (central France).
