Anyone else with a tuxedo cat notice that they have a particular smell to their fur - almost like baby powder? Both Tilda and our new kitten Tucker, have this faint smell. Cassie, our other kitten doesn't.

Veronica, it's not the hair color that you're smelling. Probably that particular line of kitties has less (or more?) body odor than others you know of.
I have a cat right now that smells like a sunny day or fresh mowed hay;
I have had other cats who actually had body odor (not bad, but obvious).

My boy Rocky always smells kind of dusty, but then he spends alot of time digging for moles or voles or whatever is out in the yard.

You know that is funny. My cat Bo who is a bit of a tux cat smells so good! Kinda sweet as well. But now it could be where they hang out too. Maybe picking up laundry smells, the cat litter?
I love to bury my head in their fur when they first come in from outside when it has been cold. they smell so fresh.....sigh!

I have a tuxedo cat but have not noticed that he smells any different than the other three. All are indoor cats. I'll have to do a smell test when I get home tonight!

My gray tuxedo usually smells very bad actually - can you say anal glands? ;) But I love him desperately and now that he is dying of cancer, I can't imagine not having old stinky butt around.

My tuxedo cat, Hobie the B@st@rd, is a little bit stinky. My dear departed Bubbles (RIP :( ) smelled wonderful, though, like fresh air and sunshine. She was not a tuxedo cat, she was all grey with a little white spot on her chest. I loved to bury my face in her fur and inhale. (Not to mention, she was the first cat that I wasn't allergic to at all. :) )

Miss Kitty isn't a tux and she smells good. Except when she has catfood breath.

My angel Tuxedo kitty, Kazootie, smelled like wild strawberries. I loved to bury my nose in her fur. She was an indoor only cat.

That's exactly how Trixie, my formally dressed beloved smells. Julio, my other cat, smells like feet (but not in a bad way ;)).

Hmmm...the other day, when my black cat Cooler jumped up on my bed, I remember thinking..."That's what I like about cats. They don't have an odor, like the dogs do." I buried my nose in his back and didn't smell a thing. I like that.
Maybe my smeller's malfunctioning.

If yours is, mine is too! I did a "nose test" on Robbie, my tuxedo, last night. I smelled nothing at all, but I sure enjoyed having that soft kitty fur all over my face.:D

My Bo likes to sleep between my dh and my pillows. If he stunk that would not happen! He smells really nice! last night he was between our pillows and we were talking to him. You should see how much he likes to be talked to! He chirps and squeaks. It is so cute!!!!!!

I just returned from vacation..my tuxedo cat Alphie, has been keeping shop with DH. He has been on and in all the equipment, so not only does he smell like stale grease he has also got grease and grime residue in his fur. So, his little spot on the couch is filthy, thank goodness for towels and he is just a little pig pen. He loves the dirt I think. There can be one dirty spot on the shop floor, he finds it immediately and rolls in it. (He is an indoor cat.) Dh said he tried wiping him down before coming into the house every night. Taking one look at his resting spot and my chair, I am glad he got wiped down atleast. The furniture is going to have to be cleaned today. But he picks up various smells. I love it when he sits in the window and he smells so fresh. One day, though, the farmers spread manure, he smelled like manure. That was not so fresh smelling. FOr the most part, he doesn't smell bad or have an odor. He doesn't smell like roses or lavender, but I love him regardless of what he smells like. ;)

Petey, my 6-toed kitty, is a tabby with white feet and a white blaze on his face. Those big feet being white makes them look even bigger! He's in & out and just smells neutral. That's fine with me! He's starting to shed, as the spring is coming. He is enjoying all the brushing. Isn't amazing how much fur you can get in a cat brush?? And he has short hair. I love my Petey.

Herald doesn't seem to smell any different than the other two. And he's on a different diet. Does anyone's tuxedo's have dandruff or weight problems? Poor Herald has both. We've been fighting his weight most of his life. One of his vets even commented, "what is it about tuxedos? The get fat."

My tux Hobie does have dandruff, although it's significantly less since I switched him to an all-canned food diet (I think, among its other benefits, it must be better for his coat). Also he has lost a little weight on the canned food diet because those useless carbs found in dry food are greatly reduced.

Tucker is still a kitten, only 6 months or so. But he's going to be a big cat I think - just in size. We're hoping to keep him from getting fat.
Tilda was a petite little thing. Right after she wandered into our lives she porked up to ten pounds. I think she was just scarfing food because she had been a stray. She eventually settled back down to eight pounds, but that dropped as she got older. She was about 5 pounds when she passed on at the advanced age of 18. I miss that little cat.

In reply to bmccasland my tux is fat. he is short legged and hefty just his momma. he only gets 3/4 cup of dry food in a 24 hour period, he nibbles all day long, and gets the occasional dry food treats. He weighs in at 15#s give or take. he doesn't like canned food. last year we had to change his food from hills urinary diet to purina urinary diet. hills changed their formula and he snubbed it for 10 days, so had to find something else and purina won. he has always had a shiny coat, was worried with changing the foods. Its still shiny but I don't think as shiny. this is his first bought of dandruff this past winter. My dad has a tux cat, he's 25#, yes, 25#, he's a large cat all around, and has always had bad dandruff. Dad's cat loves to be brushed too.
