I bid on a pair of bike shorts on ebay and actually won them!! :D

for a total of $15.00! they are turquoise tho :o But if you knew me personally you would know why I like them :p
I can be a bit "different" at times.

I was reading an article in one of the biking mags and a man said he was passed by a woman in cycling shorts with a skirt over them - kinda got me thinking, that sounds like a great idea, when you get off the bike you are covered- which I like - plus with turquoise shorts I might wanna put a little cover over them :) I was thinking about a wrap around short sheer skirt-ette.

I am not hard core so that just sounds like a lot of fun to me, plus I sew! I like to train hard but have fun at the same time, I thought a skirt would help cover that padded butt look too, I am sure they don't look as bad as they feel when you run in them but.....

What do ya'll think?

cycling skorts already exist.

There's been some talk here in the past about skirts and skorts (which are shorts with a skirt attached), both along the lines of the benefits of wearing them, and how to go about making your own. Just run a search on skirt or skort. Edited to add: Some suppliers call the wraparound-style skirts "wrappers".

It seems like a simple wraparound-style skirt would be fairly simple to make. TE sells a few (all seem to be listed under the skorts category). Terry sells a lot of them, and, as you know firsthand, there's always eBay. Now that you mention it, I'm going on a tour in late May/early June and you got me thinking a wraparound skirt would be a good thing to bring along.

One interesting observation that's been made fairly often here is that motorists seem to be less likely to hassle women cyclists wearing skirts (which of course begs the question would said motorists be less likely to hassle male cyclists wearing skirts .. I suppose it depends on whether they shave their legs. Ba-dum-dum.)

I sew myself and thought maybe it would be neat to make a wrapper or two out of the mesh type material they make those sarongs to go over swimwear - I got some of the material recently to make a sarong for my daughter's suit. At my age (56), I'm a little past mesh wrappers :o ... I got the pattern for the wrapper in the swimwear section of one of the regular pattern lines. Personally, I got a pair of the chameleon shorts from Terry.
