My condolences to you and everyone in Kirkwood. What a shock it was to hear that something like this could happen THERE! My thoughts and prayers are with you today.

I did most of my schooling and growing up in Kirkwood....shocking indeed though Kirkwood's been the site of a few big events recently.
City councils and police being shot up in city hall, the kidnapper that held Shaw Hornsbeck and for a short time Ben Owensby working at the pizza joint a few doors down, Kevin Johnson recently sentenced to death for killing an officer. So much grief in the town of Kirkwood, best wishes to all.

I was on my way home from a spin class when my kids told me about it. It is a terrible thing for any family.
My oldest is very active in scouts. He was quite concerned not knowing if some of his leaders were in attendance. Many of his scout leaders regularly attend these meetings. Daniel has been working with Mayor Swoboda on his Citizenship in the Community merit badge.
They shut down most of Kirkwood road for a while last night. This is the first time I have ever known our store to close early.
I know that the schools will be very distracted today.
It's a bad time when your community is the headline on CNN.

wow, I am so saddened. Had chills as I read this.
"Cookie" was crumbling within time and was not watched more closely.

As I am understanding things, the mayor had every legal right to prevent him from attending the council meetings. The mayor chose not to bar him saying that he was a citizen of our community and deserved his freedom of speech.

That is such a tragedy. Pillars of the community - people who serve others - just sad. Sorry to hear about all of this.

It's just so terrible. I'm sorry your community (any community for that matter) has to deal with tragedies like this. I saw his brother on the news saying he was just going to war with the people who were oppressing him (or some other such nonsense). Makes no sense to me to kill them over... over what?
Just so sad... :(

Just terrible! My husband has been there. We do a sculpture in Saint luis every few years and he goes and eats there. He said it is one of those towns you go "I could live here"! Small quite! You never know. We live in a very small beach town and have had a few horrific things happen that would turn your stomach! but it is a great town! Honest! Just there can always be a bad seed or two.
