Just received a new REI catalogue and noted that there are now SPD compatible keens. Anybody tried them? I would consider it *if* they've made the sole a little stiffer....
Now back to work (ugh).

I'd be interested even if they are not much stiffer. With my toe boo boos I've been seriously considering sandals. :D Off to take a look.

That's odd, I don't see anything about the footbed, whether it's carbon or what.

It's odd - even the Keen website doesn't say. Guess I'll have to take a look next time I go in REI:) Like I need an excuse...

This dude posted a review (of sorts): http://cyclingspokane.blogspot.com/ (scroll down).
He says some give for walking and plenty stiff for biking. The price is a bit steep for my taste, though.....
This will require more thought:)

When's that REI dividend arrive? I need to do something because my ancient Shimano ATBs are well .... old. Comfy .... but real old. I'll have to try 'em.

Yah. I need another pair of shoes/sandals - biking or casual - like I need a hole in my head!
But, hmmm...those do look cool.

There's no information in the Keen dealer catalog about what's used to stiffen the sole. (I just checked.) At this price point, definitely not carbon, though. Most likely some sort of nylon. They are quite stiff. We received our shipment on Friday and several staff members are drooling already!
We're carrying both the men's and the women's sizing here:

Hope this helps.
