Some of you guys might have seen my post about a month ago...I started a running group at school as a New Year's challenge, aiming for a 5 k at the end of March. I gave them plans and training journals and a big pep talk. I send them articles to read and encouragement.....

Then two days later I was struck with tendonitis and PFS in my right knee, and I have not been able to run. Grhhhhh. I had to put up with a whole month of bright, enthusiatic, endorphin filled newbie runner, coming to my room every day to tell the injured leader..how great they feel...and how great they are doing...

Well all sarcasm aside...They are doing great. Four of the eight have gone out of their way to thank me for giving them the push. They are dropping weight and feeling great.

So even though I have been sidelined, I was able to do a good thing. I really feel like I was able to give back a little bit.

We are planning on running a race together in May that raises money for our track team. I should be good to go by then.

Run on friends.....

I'm really sorry to hear about your injury R&R girl. I'm glad you've encouraged other people to run, I managed to get my friend running in December last year including taking her to a running shop and getting her suitable trainers as she's had shin splints problems in the past. She's been running regularly and pain free since then andwas enjoying it but has lately been bemoaning her lack of progress, she's allowed me access to her online training log (she has access to mine) and she's been doing the same 2 mile loop with a stupidly big steep hill in it over and over again! We're going for a girlie MTB ride tomorrow so I'll be trying to convince her that runnng exactly the same thing over and over again is akin to weighing yourself everyday! Hopefully your bunch are a little more sensible.

I'd like her to build up to running comfortably for an hour then she can come out with my club as she has no one to run with and she does much better in company - she works long hours which doesn't help, our schedules are completely different.
