Word on the 'net is that he died of a massive heart attack last night. This was way too early. What a loss to so many people.

So sad. If anyone gets news of a memorial service please post here. I will actually be in Boston next weekend. I bought one bike from Harris, and Sheldon helped me restore another by email correspondance. So sad..........

He helped me too, online and via personal emails too. He was just an endless source of knowledge. His passing will leave a huge gap in the collective base of bicycle know-how. He was so positive and upbeat about his MS conditions, and to lose the battle so early is just too sad.

His death is so sad. I just e-mailed him last Saturday with a question and got a quick reply. He was so helpful to me and my partner. He will be missed!

Thank you for the announcement. I hoped he'd publish his website in a book format. He was interested, but indicated he lacked the fire to get it done.
My impression is that he had a wonderful life. I hope when it is my time I am on my bike, but more than that I hope the same can be said of me.

How sad. That's no age at all these days. Sheldon's contribution to the cycling world is as vast as will be the void left by his passing.

How sad, what a sad loss. I really enjoyed going through his website and learning so many things about riding and bikes and just life in general. If it weren't for him, I would've never created my single speed or even new what I had. He will be greatly missed.

I learned of Sheldon's passing yesterday at my bike club meeting. The folks there said that he was suffering from MS and had been riding a trike as he could no longer ride a two wheeled bike.
He was truly an amazing man. May he rest in peace.
