Maybe I'll weigh myself in 2 days.
Because we have a family member visiting from Arizona, we are feeding him the best of West coast pacific. Here's how we treat family guest and right now my body is buzzed with higher-end food (aka not totally healthy food).
After breakfast of oatmeal with skim milk and tea, I cycled over to market..where I had a French light pastry of very light puff pastry Danish with a custard filling and apricot.
Came home, had a slice of fig-anise artisan bread and more tea.
Then 5 hrs. later, fortified at a gourmet cake shop, where I had a ganache dark chocolat multi-layer cake and strong coffee with milk.
Supper, he made goat cheese dip with smoked lox salmon with red pepper, herbs on rye crackers; followed by entree of homemade wild coho salmon flavoured with lemon and lime juice with touch of maple syrup and wrapped with phyllo layers and whole thing baked, brushed with abit of oil. Had sauteed mushrooms, onions and fennel bulb on side. White wine, followed by merlot wine.
I'm buzzed. :o:eek: My heart is beating faster than normal. If I can fall asleep in 2 hrs., that would be miracle.

More caffeine, wine, and fat than usual might be all you're feeling -- not the fact that the food/drink was higher end. I get that way too when we dine out a lot and I indulge a bit more than usual. Even chocolate has caffeine. I never sleep well after a day of that type of food/drink either! It all sounds delicious, by the way. :p

Yeah, sounds like you did have a fair amount of caffeine today and that would do it. When I was at the doctor's office this afternoon, I had had just ONE cup of coffee after church and my blood pressure was 138 systolic (usually runs about 110)--yikes!!!! Of course, I think there was some nervousness added to the mix in that particular situation and that was probably part of it, but holy cow!

All sounds pretty good to me!

If it were me, it would be the alcohol, dairy, rye and wheat that would drive my HR up. Alcohol does that, plus it's a classic symptom of food allergies. But it could be any or all of the above :p Sounds delicious and worth a few extra BPM :D

since I stopped drinking coffee, whenever I have some, it sends me to the moon. Rich food, combined with sugar and caffeine, makes me feel nervous and edgy if I eat too much. I'm okay if I only have a bite of this or that, but if I eat more than usual, I notice a change. Then I have a few days of fresh fruit and lots of water and I feel much better. I think all that food sounds wonderful, though! I'd much rather have that to choose from than junk food!

I don't drink caffeinated drinks at all. It seems to be one of the triggers for my migrane. I have to be careful even with Chai tea, green tea... :(
Saturday, we rented "Groundhog Day" and "Ratatouille". We watched Ground hog day on Saturday and on Sunday we watched the cartoon. Along with it I made some beef bourguignonne (we used buffalo meat instead). Seems to be fiting since the cartoon was about fine dining not that beef bourguinonne is fine dining per se. I think of it as more of a country food. but anyway I digress. along with the beef, we had some red wine. I only had half a glass.
And I was paying the price yesterday Monday! Couldn't for the life of me figure out why I was feling so yuck! got on the trainer and gave up only after 35 minutes. My heart rate only went up to 153 instead of normal 180-something. struggled mightly. Then I realized "oh its the wine". It may also have to do with not used to eating much red meat.
so you are not alone with the rich food. But it does taste oh soo goood. :p

Last night we had filets wrapped in bacon, big salad, baked potatoe's. And a cookie for dessert. We did have friends over for dinner. Today I feel sluggish!
So I need to make some good veggie soup for us to eat for the next few days to make up for all the junk we have had the last week. I forgot to mention the super bowl party we went too! Trying to forget about what I ate and drank there!

Brandi, I just made a yummo butternut squash/potato/leek pureed soup if you want the recipe...

Soup! I just made some fantastic carrot soup. It's like cream of carrot, but there's no cream, just onions and garlic, carrots, potatoes, herbs, and broth (chicken or veggie, according to your orientation) Saute it all up, simmer in the broth until everything is nice and tender, and puree in a blender until smooth. I also baked some homemade bread. yum.

You can puree in some tofu for a nice carrot bisque, too.

My partner makes variations of the butternut squash soup or carrot soup. Often he uses a vegetable broth base. There's never any cream. In it maybe grated ginger root, (or abit of curry) fresh herbs (basil, parsley), a chopped up apple or pear. Then it's all pureed at the end. We add a dollop of fresh yogurt at serving. He has pureed in cooked celery root which adds a nice sweetness.
Or a roasted red beet soup with some orange juice cooked in..I feel so naturally high and healthy when I have these soups. :D:rolleyes: It's a real health buzz here.
