CCBA Legislative Event:

The Central Connecticut Bicycle Alliance (CCBA) invites you to join them for a reception in the State Capitol on February 13, 2008, 3:00-4:30 pm, to learn about our vision for safer cycling and human-powered transportation for a more healthy, environmentally-friendly, and energy-conscious Connecticut. Many of our groups' visions and missions share common themes and goals, and your presence and support of this event will help move us in this common direction. The details are below and a flyer link has been attached for posting. Please forward this email to the members of your group or organization, and include the information in your newsletter or website as you see fit.

Please RSVP to ccba@wecyclect.org

We have invited the members of the following Legislative Committees - Transportation, Public Health, Environment, Energy and Conservation, and Planning and Development. We have attached a listing of committee members. Feel free to contact any of them individually, especially those that you know personally, to request their participation. During the event, CCBA will be supporting the following priorities:

- Legislation requiring a minimum of 3 feet distance when passing a bicyclist on the road

- Legislation requiring the state to include pedestrian and bicycle access throughout the transportation system

- Support of a state-wide "Share the Road" campaign to educate bicyclists, motorists, and other road-users about their respective rights and responsibilities

- Continued support for funding of bicycle and pedestrian facilities

Please RSVP to ccba@wecyclect.org

Cycling organizations/groups:

We are hoping for as many attendees as possible, so that our legislators and the media will see how many constituents support these issues. To help in this, if your group supports the above-listed initiatives, we will include your group or organization's name in a list of supporters and include this list in our packet to attendees.

Please email us at CCBA@wecyclct.org to let us know if we may include your group's name in the supporters list and also to RSVP. RSVPs are not required, but would help us to know how many people to expect.

You are welcome to bring your group or organization's brochures to place on a table.
