I had the opportunity to take a 3 hour bike tune-up class at my LBS. It was fantastic! I was able to work one on one with a mechanic tuning up my bike. Drive train, bottom, bracket, head set, wheel true. We installed a new LX derailleur because my xt rapid rise was driving me crazy. (Could never keep it adjusted correctly.)

Our mechanics run these classes during the winter because when it snows they have very little work. Some winters it hardly snows, but the recent winters are white.

Just thought I'd mention how much I enjoyed it and how much I learned. If you are ever presented with the opportunity, take advantage.

The class was $75, but I tipped an additional $20. And then there was the derailleur, chain, etc.... I always walk out of a bike store with a smaller wallet.

Great news! You will save that much and more by not taking your bike in for simple adjustments. Did they go over how to change a tire? It's the first thing we should be taught, in my opinion.

I'm glad you went; perhaps you'll inspire others to go, too.

I didn't need the flat tire change tutorial. I have changed more tires than I could ever count and have made all of the mistakes one can make. I hope I've learned my lessons. Every new flat is a new flat.
