Does anybody know anything about this bike? I've never heard of the brand before. Is it American made, meaning: will finding parts be easy or difficult? I've been wanting a mixte, but settled for another bike instead. I would like to buy this one, but don't know if it's worth anything. I'm sure it'll need a new chain, new tires and brake pads. The usual. I wish I hadn't looked at this, because now I want it. And I've already got 5 bikes of my own in the house. If I came home with this one, DH would come unglued. My dream is to open a recycled bike store that only sells used bikes. If I start my collection now, I should be ready to open in about 5 years...
What do you mixte pros think?

I'd buy it for $7. :)
And then you can open a bike store like this: www.recycledcycles.com

I would buy any bike for $7. The kickstand is worth that much. :)

You can't go wrong for $7.00 - even if you didn't want to keep it, you could clean it up and put a new saddle on it, and probably turn around and sell it for alot more. Just my 2 cents. Keep us posted what you decide you do.

Go ahead and buy it and then send it my way if you don't like it!

Well, well. Looks like I have plenty of buyers here should I choose to re-sell it. ;) I sent an e-mail inquiring about it. It's in the town next to the one I work in. Hopefully I'll hear about it soon.

Have you had a chance to pick up my bike yet? ;) :p

I don't know why I was debating so much? It's only $7, but I guess the thought of another bike in the house (and breaking the news to DH without him exploding) was what was worrying me, really. He didn't flip out too much. I ONLY have 6 bikes now, but I plan on selling 2.
Ok, so I went by and looked at it and bought it. Go figure, it's just my size (sorry MD, it wouldn't have fit your tall frame- or so I tell myself). :D
It's really a sweet little ride! Now I might have to fix it up and keep it and sell the other bike I use for errands (my Sears Free Spirit). It needs some work: the rims are rusty (but I can switch out the rims on my Free Spirit) and the handlebars are not in great shape (again- I'll switch out the ones on my Free Spirit) and the saddle is bad (the Free Spirit has a good one...). ;)
So basically I'll change out all the good parts on the Free Spirit, put a new chain on it, and it'll be one purty bike. I'll have to play around with it a little, but when I get it looking nice (if it turns out the way I want), I'll post a pic.
Is there any way to know the age of the bike? Is it stamped somewhere secret?

Congratulations!
(more pictures, purty please, so we can oogle it properly?);)

Congrats! Look under the bottom bracket for a serial number. Then you'll have to find out how that manufacturer numbered its frames.

I'm 5'5". I don't think I've ever been called tall! ;)
Enjoy your new mixte! Please post some pictures.

If the rims are rusty, but otherwise in good shape, see if you can get your hands on some Quick-Glo (http://www.alibaba.com/catalog/10399755/Quick_Glo_Rust_Remover_Metal_Cleaner.html)to clean it up.
I cleaned up the rims and bars on an old Schwinn cruiser I got at a yard sale, and they look great. The stuff is hard to find, however.
I saw this, too, on cleaning wheels...http://www.bunchobikes.com/chrome.htm

OK- here she is in all her classic glory. Her rims are rusty, and her handlebars are not the prettiest (and she's got some scratches in her paint), but she's so pretty and I just love her. Once I cleaned the paint, I realized it's pretty sparkly (like glitter)- so purty. I've lusted after a mixte for some time, and finally got one. Bought her for $7, put about $70 worth of repairs into her (tires, tubes, a new seat, sparkly handlebar grips and chain) and she's like *new.* I couldn't be happier. Now I'll just donate the other two riding around town bikes I have lying around to the local women's shelter, and everyone will be happy. :D

I know how long you have been looking for one. She's a beauty! Love the basket, it's just like mine. Mine made so much noise as I rode, I finally took it off.
What kind of tires do you have? I need new tires and want gumwalls. I covet the sparkly handgrips too!

:D *\o/* *\o/* *\o/* Very nice thing to do.
You might be able to get a local shop to donate helmets?
Someday my mixte will come...
What brand is that?
