In two weeks my BF is turning 40. I'm hosting a surprise party, together with three of his friends. The friends are taking care of issuing invitations, supplying some of the food, and getting him there........I'm doing the decorating. The hitch is, I'm not an MTB'er, I'm a roadie......I've got a few ideas in mind, but could use some help from the TE gang.
So far, I've got plans lined up for a chocolate cake shaped like a mountain (well, sort of) and decorated with a rocky-rooty "trail", probably made of candy and nuts. Gotta find tiny biking figures? Anybody know an online source? (Local craft shops had nothing. Trying ToysRUs tomorrow....)
I downloaded a bunch of small biking-related road signs today (couldn't find any MTB trail signs...yet) and am going to print them out on neon green paper and make mini light covers for blinking string lights. (He road rides, too, but not as much as he MTBs.)
Would love to do something with headlamps and blinkies, but not sure what......
Working on cycling themed paper plates, napkins, etc. Probably will design and print out something that I can use to personalize blank stuff.
I'm also putting together an online slide show of photos from babyhood through today---many of the shots are bike-related, yay!---thanks to images supplied by his mom and his friends.
I thought about hitting up one of his LBS buddies for discarded pedals, rims, reflectors, whatever---but not sure at the moment what I could make out of them.....
Thoughts? More (not too complicated) ideas? Thanks!
