I've been fighting off a cold with a sore throat for a couple of days. I went to bed at 6:30 last night and got up at our normal time of 4 this morning. I was feeling okay so I decided to do my Spinervals with Irongirl tape. It's intervals mixed up with weight work. Thursday is supposed to be an ab/back workout in the morning and a ride in the afternoon. But I have a dentist appointment this afternoon.
I drove to work instead of riding because of the dentist appointment. The students came into the classroom at 8:15. By 9:00 I was miserable. My sore throat was back. It hurt to talk much above a whisper. My head was throbbing and I was so tired.
At ten I took my students to their PE class and went to the office to ask them to get me a sub, and I called the dentist and canceled. I NEVER do that! The sub arrived at 11:40. I went home, made myself some mac and cheese, since we don't have any soup. At 1 PM I was in bed and I just woke up.
Amazingly, I feel better. It doesn't hurt that Tucker and Cassie (the kittens) snoozed with me. Tucker just crawled into my lap. That kitten has a purr like a Harley engine.

Good for you!!! Lends another meaning to the term "catnap". :)
I'm not a napper, but this morning I had to get up at 4 am to drive to court in Fresno (the nicest US District courthouse I have EVER been in), 3 1/2 hours each way, one handed, and my busted up arm is just aching right now. No time to nap as I have to get some more work done, but I will be going to bed VERY early tonight. :D

V- I had a very bad cold starting the day after Christmas. My sore throat lasted a little over 2 weeks. That cold totally kicked me in my you know what. I too slept quite a bit. So I can empathize with you. Hope you are feeling better and can get out and ride.

I'm planning on about 60 miles tomorrow with some friends. It was the headache I think that really got me. Lots of Advil Cold and Sinus has helped. :D

I am lucky, I usually don't get headaches. Hope you had a great ride.

V - Hope you're feeling better! I've had a cold/throat since xmas, it's been up and down. I've been drinking throat coat tea for my throat and it helps ease the misery. I'm currenly on my second round of antibiotics (fingers crossed that this will take care of it).
Keep napping, drink some warm tea, read a good book, do a little exercise, eat some cookies and repeat.:p

I rarely get sick, but when I do, it's almost always because I'm under stress and have not been getting enough sleep.
Getting adequate sleep is often overlooked as we try to do everything. I noticed the OP gets up at 4am...While we are all different, I could never do that unless I went to bed at 8pm at the latest.

I'm usually in bed by 7:30. I like my sleep! That's why the 90 minute seemed somewhat odd to me.

This kinda made me laugh. I am one of those old fashioned people who really believes that bed is the place for folks who are sick. I find that actually staying in bed...not the couch or lounge chair...seems to keep me warmer and more rested. I think our bodies use a lot of energy getting us well when we are fighting something off, and that recovery is as important when sick as it is in our training schedule.
I know people who will religiously recover from hard training with a hot tub, elevated legs, proper nutrition, etc, who won't go to bed for the day when they're sick!
OK...off my soapbox... ;) :)

trying to take a catnap... Was asleep then my furry children decided to join in. Two of the cats are missing and one dawwgg is missing from the picture. I do like to nap after a ride though.

That's hilarious. I have a picture of my dad like that, but it's four dogs...mine and his.
