View Full Version : FINALLY! Open for Business!

Running Mommy

As of tomorrow morning at 10:00 am AZ time, Estrella Mountain Cyclery will be OPEN FOR BUSINESS!!

It has been one heck of a month. It seems like every day has been another battle. Last week my neighbor approached my husband and warned him that I was on the verge of a nervous breakdown. And she was right. Friday night I was a puddle of tears, shaking, and hyperventalating. It was horrible. I actually had my first ever suicidal thought. It was scary, and I hope to never go through something like that again.
But as I always say, what doesn't kill me only makes me stronger. I kept my ironwoman will and pushed forward, and today I jumped through my last hoop. The dreaded building inspector. Though lucky for me- he's a mtn biker! :p
So tomorrow morning at 10:00 am I get to put up my OPEN sign for the first time. And hopefully all of those who have been driving by will stop in and pay me a visit.
I still have a few things to complete. My outdoor bike racks aren't in. And we are still trying to figure out a fitting room. But at least I can start making some money.
YAY!!!
I want to thank everyone who has sent me their good vibes, and wishes of luck and prosperity. I actually got a card from clock over in England wishing us good luck. That was such a welcome surprise.
Cheers to all.
Ride safe, ride hard, have fun!
Denise :)

I hope to make it up north one of these days and I've got your shop on the 'must see' list.

Good luck!

Yee-ha!

Best wishes for success... and peace of mind, from a former sole proprietor.

(And just for the record, it was family issues, not business issues, that are responsible for that "former.")

You go.

RM - I am soooooo excited for you . This is going to be fabulous. I think I might be sensing a need to go to Tempe and buy a new bike...

Seriously. If I went down there and bought a bike from you in person, would you then be able to ship it to me or would that be against the rules?

Running Mommy
01-17-2008, 07:11 PM
Nope Wahine, not against the rules at all. As long as you step on to my doorstep and at least take her for a spin! :p

BTW- I had a high end rep come in this afternoon showing off his fancy pants Ti bikes. Mostly euro brands, but some SWEEEEETTT rides! Some custom options too. If of course you have a mere 5-6k + to spend! (ha! AS IF!)

Of course my current in house faves are the Quintana Roo Caliente with racy wheels, and the Bianchi C2C 928 carbon road eatin' machine. That bike is saawwweeeet! :D

You're an inspiration! I've been pretty stressed about my work lately. I started working from home in August to be able to live a more balanced life. Usually it's great, but sometimes the money aspect (or lack thereof) gets me down. Not having the regular paycheck can be tough. But I believing that if we don't try our dreams, we'll never know. And we're always learning how to do it better.

Take care of yourself, and congratulations on you real dream!

Congratulation and WOOHOO!!

Will you be offering basic maintenance workshop or other kinds of workshop? like what you need to cary when out cycling on the road, mtn biking, how to fix a flat (most people use way too much glue and don't wait for the glue to dry), bike safety.

Thank you!! :)
It was so nice to finally be able to put a face to a name.
And also very nice of her to drive over for the first day. And now she has a very nice Sugoi high vis jacket to keep herself WARM. It's been very cold here the last few days.
Anyway, yes, we are open, and doing well. Thanks for thinking of us.
ciao!

Now if I can only LIVE UP to the hype! ha ha ha
I got a visit from Pink Bike and Mr. Pink this afternoon. Such nice people. I think Mr. PB wanted to ride the Bianchi 1885 I had on the floor right out the door! :D
VERY good taste he has!!!
Lot's of people coming through, kicking the tires. But that's to be expected with a new shop. The BMX racers have given me a list of things they will need for their big race next weekend, so I ordered up a box o' bmx racer stuff. BOY HOWDY is that a whole other world!! sheesh!
Anyway, all is good on this end. Kinda slow, but other than TE and the BMX track I really haven't advertised yet. I'm working on that this week.
Thanks again all!
Ciao!

Congrats, some of our riding buddies open a shop in November (tough time of the year in the MidWest). Of all things skateboards are helping carry them thru the Winter (lots of kids got money for Christmas I guess). Anyway, enjoy the shop. One of the guys donated his year old big screen, so now they run Tour videos and have a nice area to relax, watch cycling stuff on TV, drink coffee, and just shoot the breeze.

Best of Luck!
