I signed up for TOSRV today.
I rode every year from 1983 through 1993. The longest I've ridden since is a 79-miler last year that almost killed me  but it was hilly, and TOSRV is fairly flat to rolling.
So that's my two non-goal plans for 2008 that I've committed to. My first 5K is next week.

and just what's TOSRV? enquiring minds want to know.
I'm not sure what ride that is... or the distance... but you can do it!
Just train for it and you will be ready.
Something I learned at the MS150 one year... on the second day of riding... you can still pedal even if your legs are sore. :)

TOSRV (http://www.tosrv.org/08/index.htm), from Columbus to Portsmouth, Ohio and back, 105 miles each way (give or take) every Mother's Day weekend.
Back in the '80s and '90s there were 5-6000 riders. Even though it was great fun, it was really getting kind of out of control. Lately it's more like 2500-3000. I don't know whether that's because of declining interest or by design. Back in the day, if you didn't send in your SASE before registration opened, and then send your entry form back the day you got it, you probably wouldn't get in, it would fill up that fast.
The first TOSRV was just a trip that Greg Siple and his father took together in 1962. Greg and a few others went on to found Bikecentennial, which evolved into Adventure Cycling.

I've been reading about TOSRV for years, and had a few friends who did it maybe 20 years ago. My dad's people are from southern Ohio, and we spent many summers there, so I always thought it'd be cool to go back and do that ride. But...life intervenes.
So, Oakleaf, I hope you'll give us a nice report from which I can get some vicarious pleasure once you've finished the ride, which I'm SURE you will. :D
