Wow... 15 days of the new year away and done already!
Well, Tuesday saw me do some moderate intensity work on my TT bike in the morning just after day-break before it got too hot. Just 15km, but I have a race Thursday so don't want to overdo it.
In the evening I went for a gentle 8.5km with my eldest and youngest children. Very nice, just the three of us in the slowly cooling evening (the day's heat had got up to 35'C again).
The silver poplars are dropping their leaves already - it seems way toooo early for Autumn!

I'm so jealous of those of you down under right now. I can only hope for weekends and holidays rides. But the days are slowly getting longer!
Although the good news is that I've been in Nashville most of the day, snuck in a visit to Cumberland Transit to check and see if there were any fleece-lined tights on sale. All their Nike stuff was 40% off. That had ONE pair, and they were my size. :D

not sure if I want to go do hill reps, ride a leisurely 20 miler with 1200 ft climb, or 60 minutes of intense trainer workout. Trainer is definitly the hardest... Then again, I have a swimming class tonight. It's my second class and I'm already dreading it. :(
Yesterday was my "rest" day so went for real easy 10miler with only 400 feet of climb. And its still sunny and warm out 68F/20C. Supposed to get cold and windy starting tonight so may go out riding before the winter comes back. I'm not fond of the cold either.

added in the evening.. Got home and it was already getting cold. Also don't like to ride when the rush hour traffic starts. so hopped on the trainer instead. shortened it to 45 minutes. Save myself for the dreaded swim class. Besides, its more important to get in shape than ticking away the miles on the bikejounal. ;) just don't feel right about adding miles when I'm on the trainer.

2 hours and 50 minutes. I headed for my "hill play" area and went at it. I ascended San Joaquin Hills first, then descended Newport Coast and climbed it...
AT MY PERSONAL BEST TIME!
The best part about this is that when I was field tested in November, I was absolutely, totally blown up at the end of this hill climb. Today I cut 14 seconds off my previous personal best time, my heart rate wasn't through the roof, I could have pushed harder and I felt great. Just in a groove and feeling phenomenal today!
After NC, I went up Vista Ridge (9.3%av grade) for .6 miles and then up Ridge Park (9.3%av grade) for .85 miles...looked at my watch and realized I was making good time so descended to the Bonita side of Newport Coast and climbed that. Descended San Joaquin Hills and then decided to turn up another road to get another couple hundred feet of climbing in.
Ended up with 38.2 miles and 2660 ft of climbing for the day. Not bad. Almost forgot...I got scolded by the coach/boyfriend for not doing base miles today. Oops. :p
Oh, and I've been suspicious that my Polar was losing some of my miles since when I move my hands from the handlebars it registers 0 for speed. I had both my Powertap and Polar on today and I was shocked that I lost almost 2 miles on the Polar! It also gets wacky at night if I put it too close to my Niterider. Grrrrr.
